The game was hard fought for four quarters and it appeared valley view would pick up the win late in the fourth quarter but a late interception led to a game-winning drive for Ross. here are the standouts from the game:
Valley View Trojans:
Caden Henson QB 6’2 170 lbs. ℅ 24. Henson impressed me with his ability to persevere through adversity. He showed that even as a Sophomore, he’s a leader of this team. He was 16/27 for 177 yards passing with 1 Touchdown and 1 Interception(not his fault). Henson’s average per attempt was only 6.8 but he did make some nice throws to end the first half.
Henson rushed 16 times for 53 yards(averaged 3.3 yards per carry) Overall Caden is a balanced Quarterback that has the potential to be a very solid player. He has nice touch and decent accuracy on Short, Medium, and Deep passes. Shows patience in the pocket working through reads.
J.T. Ferguson WR/DB 6’2 182 lbs. ℅ 22. Ferguson looked very polished as a Route Runner Friday Night. He hauled in 4 catches for 34 yards(8.5 yards per catch average) Ferguson had a few big plays called back due to penalties. He also had a drop that resulted in an Interception. Overall, J.T. is a smooth Route Runner. He does have natural hands. Was solid Highpointing the football. As a Defensive Back, he was solid taking proper angles to the ball carrier. Ferguson did a good job tackling in the open field.
Austin Stidham WR/DB 5’8 153 lbs. ℅ 23. Stidham was a thorn in the side of Ross all night long. He had 4 catches for 75 yards and 1 Touchdown(An average of 18.8 yards per catch) Stidham showed elusiveness and breakaway speed. He weaved his way through the defense routinely. Austin showed some playmaking ability on his touchdown reception. Competitive Spirit was evident as he never came off the field. At the Corner Position, he totaled 4 tackles(3 solos).
Matthew Cotterman DE/TE 6’4 220 lbs. ℅ 22. Is Tall and lean but has the frame to add on muscle. He routinely penetrated the Rams backfield Totaling 11 Tackles(2 solos, 9 ast). He has a decent first step and uses technique to win at the line of scrimmage. Is a solid Tackler, Wraps up, and uses leg drive to bring ball carriers to the ground.
Ross Rams:
Brayden Fraasman QB/RB 6’2 205 lbs. ℅ 22. Fraasman started things off with a 76-yard touchdown run for the Rams. He then followed it up with a 43-yard Touchdown run Midway through the second quarter. Fraasman is a playmaker. He has a serviceable arm and will hit open targets. However, he can take over a game with his running ability. As a runner, does a nice job squaring his shoulders to the goal and using leg drive to break tackles.
Landon Herrmann OC 6’3 300 lbs. ℅ 22. Has Nice size and frame. Strength is evident as he routinely opens holes for the backs to run through. In Pass Protection is an absolute wall. Versus Valley View, The Rams consistently ran behind Herrmann with success. Is a leader of a young offensive line that starts 4 Sophomores.
Kyle Becker CB 5’10 175 lbs. ℅ 23. Becker was working hard all night at Valley View. He had his hands full with the Receivers but was persistent in playing one play at a time. Eventually, it paid off as Becker was able to haul in a tipped pass for an interception that set up the game-winning drive for Ross. Kyle is a Boundary Corner that is a willing tackler and run defender. He plays zone coverage solid and takes proper angles to the football routinely.
