Last year’s Class 6A-1 runner ups, Edmond Santa Fe started their season on a disappointing note with a defeat to Owasso. But it wasn’t all bad for the Wolves, as they flashed bright spots offensively, including a talented freshman runner. There’s sky high potential for Edmond Santa Fe on the offensive side of the ball, so let’s take a look at a few who could be stars this fall and beyond.
Demarius Robinson

It was a tough opening half for Robinson. The smaller back often crashed into the line but was met by a wall of Owasso defenders. But to his credit the youngster kept running into breach and he started to find openings in the second half. When he found the openings, he showed good speed to go along with his toughness. Robinson had multiple 10 to 20 yards runs in the second half against Owasso’s first string defense. And in the game’s closing moments he was awarded for his perseverance. The freshman found a crease and went 22 yards for his first high school touchdown. Right now, Robinson looks more like a “single” and “doubles” hitter. As he matures he should become more adept at breaking or eluding tacklers in space and he might just start hitting some “homers”. If he does that, he could become a real game-changer for the Wolves.
Talyn Shettron

There isn’t much introduction needed for the future Oklahoma State Cowboy, so instead let’s highlight a few of his big plays. Shettron routinely used his size to overpower the smaller Owasso DBs, often making catches with players draped all over him. There were also two splash plays where it was his speed that made him stand out. For one he simply burned the coverage for a long score. While another was of the shorter variety but he racked up the yards after the catch for a 26 yard gain. For that one he went sideline to sideline, eluding tacklers before finally being pulled down by a host of Rams. Shettron will be worth the price of admission all season.
LB Reeves, 2022 WR
Santa Fe’s skill positions have a lot of untapped potential with speed on the edge. If they’re able to get consistent production from the weapons around the talented Shettron brothers, the 22 points they scored against Owasso will easily be their low total for the season. The weapon that flashed for the Wolves on Friday was senior LB Reeves. Early in the second quarter, he took a shorter pass on the perimeter, juked the opposing DB and was off to the races. Reeves was ruled out at the one but he still raced 65 yards on that one play.
Scott Pfieffer

, 2022 QB
It was an up and down day for the senior QB. The Houston Baptist commit spent much of the first half under pressure. Which brought out the good and the bad. The good was his ability to extend plays, even converting a handful of 3rd and longs with his legs. The bad was his accuracy took a hit while on the run. Pfieffer did look calmer in the second half, and Owasso will be a tough test for any QB in the state. The resolve is there as he kept battling, and the big days for Edmond Santa Fe’s should be right around the corner.
