Prep Redzone looks at a few players that we think you should monitor in the Southern Maryland, Washington County, and Chesapeake Bay regions. The majority of high school football teams in Maryland saw its 2020 season wiped out because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We gathered as much information as possible on returning 2022, 2023 and 2024 players. Some teams had little for me to go on but that may change towards the start of this season.

SOUTHERN MARYLAND

CALVERT
Anthony Stevenson/6-1/280/OL/2023
Cody Daniels/5-10/175/DB/2022
Daniels lines up at the outside linebacker position for his team. He also plays the wide receiver position. Daniels is a good tackler.
Aaron McCready/6-3/195/LB/2022
McCready is more of an edge player. He’s quick off the line and fast to the ball-carrier. McCready puts pressure on quarterbacks.

Owens recently named the final four schools that he is considering. Rutgers, Penn State, Maryland, and Syracuse all made the cut.
CHOPTICON
[player_tooltip player_id="90639" first="Demetrius" last="Harris"]/6-3/190/DB/2022
Harris may be one of the better defensive prospects that you don’t hear a lot about. That may change this upcoming season. He has the size and length that colleges salivate over when they’re recruiting cornerbacks.
Anthony Inscoe/5-9/182/DB/2023
Inscoe does a bit of everything for his team. He plays running back, safety, and contributes on special teams.

NORTHERN
Tyler Baskett/6-0/180/ATH/2022
I evaluated Baskett back in April and he was impressive at both the wide receiver and defensive back position. There’s no question in my mind that he’ll be a factor on both sides of the football for his team this year. He’s a physical wide receiver that has to speed to beat defensive backs deep. With all that being said, he probably has the highest ceiling at the safety position when thinking about the next level.
