Every Monday, we update you on all of the recruiting news from across the state. From offers to commitments and everything in between, we'll have you covered. This week, we had action! After a few slow weeks in terms of offers, we had over 10 prospects pick up offers, ranging from the 2022-2024 class. We also had another prospect announce his plans to play in an All American game. As always, you can follow us on Twitter to stay up to date from the moment an offer or commitment happens. @PrepRedzoneOK
THIS WEEK'S TOP STORIES
First Offer Alert!
We had two prospects picking up their first offers in the last week. Up first, Booker T Washington 2022 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="125508" first="Jordan" last="Drew"] tweeted out that he had received an offer from Army. For those that don't know the Hornet speedster, Drew has been a prospect that has had a very good offseason. He's doing his thing in track, proving that he's one of the fastest athletes in the state. But he's also been tearing it up with Sooner 7 on the 7v7 circuit. Before this spring, we didn't know much about Drew. But after seeing him in person four or five times at this point, we have no doubt that he's in the conversation of 2022 athletes who belong at the next level.
The second prospect to pick up his first offer last week was McAlester 2023 running back [player_tooltip player_id="91049" first="Erik" last="McCarty"]. Unlike Drew, McCarty should be a guy that most high school football fans know about after his breakout 2020 season. As a sophomore, he finished the year with well over 30 total touchdowns and helped lead McAlester to the 5A semifinals and had a legitimate shot to make it to the title game before McGuinness stunned them late. McCarty still has two years of high school ball left and it's scary what he'll be able to do with it considering how good he was as a sophomore in 2020. Physically, he already looks the part and skill-wise, he's continuing to improve, which is bad news for 5A football.
Hasz Picks Up Three More Offers
It seems like every week we're writing about Bixby 2023 tight end [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] and when it comes to offers, that's probably true. The Bixby big man has been without a doubt the hottest 2023 prospect in Oklahoma and has earned the recognition of college programs all over the country. Hasz added three more offers in the last week and they all came from Power 5 programs. The first offer came from Nebraska as the Cornhuskers continue to recruit Oklahoma extremely hard. Next up was TCU and Colorado followed after that. Last week, Hasz announced his intentions on playing in the 2023 Under Armour All American game. This week, he picked up offers from programs in three of the five power five conferences. Not a bad stretch.
Jobe Turning Into A Hot Prospect
As mentioned above, there is no doubt that no other 2023 prospect has been hotter than Bixby tight end [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] on the recruiting trail. However, we might have an argument coming up soon. Community Christian 2023 ATH [player_tooltip player_id="122426" first="Bai" last="Jobe"] has been blowing up over the last month and it's not going to slow down anytime soon. Jobe picked up two more offers last week and now has offers from literally the east and west coasts. First it was Arkansas offering the Community Christian big man. Over the weekend, Washington state offered to go with an offer from Pittsburgh. Jobe still has a ways to go to catch up with Hasz's 20+ offers but the momentum is picking up as more colleges get a chance to see Jobe and the VERY high ceiling of what he could be at the next level.
McClellan Earns & Accepts All American Honor
Another week, another recruiting report, and another mention of just how special Owasso 2022 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38674" first="Chris" last="McClellan"] is. He's been a weekly mention on this report because every single week, he's making news. In the last week, Texas A&M extended an offer to the Owasso big man and he was also invited to the Adidas All American game in San Antonio. Shortly after tweeting out that he had been invited to the game, McClellan followed up and said he would be playing in the game down in Texas in January of 2022. Oklahoma had three 2021 prospects set to play in the annual game back in January but Covid forced the game to be cancelled. Beggs DB [player_tooltip player_id="38486" first="Kendal" last="Daniels"], Thomas OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id="38503" first="Aden" last="Kelley"] and Southmoore K [player_tooltip player_id="46209" first="Cameron" last="Little"] were all selected to play in it. As of now, McClellan is the only Oklahoman committed to play in this year's game. Edmond Santa Fe WR [player_tooltip player_id="38667" first="Talyn" last="Shettron"] is playing in the Under Armour All American game.
Stone Offered & Dominates Another Camp
We put out our first batch of 2024 rankings earlier this year and the runaway pick for the top spot was Del City defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="110735" first="David" last="Stone"]. Since then, he's done nothing but solidify his spot as the top freshman in Oklahoma today. Stone picked up another Big 12 offer in the last week as Baylor offered. This comes after he was offered by Oklahoma State the week before. In addition to the offer, Stone was back at it again in the Dallas area this weekend. After standing out at the Rivals camp the week before, Stone was invited to an event for offensive and defensive linemen. Again, he dominated and showed why he's one of the top guys in Oklahoma today.
