Despite the NCAA extending the dead period, recruiting is starting to really pick up across the state of Oklahoma as National Signing Day is in our rear view mirror and the focus has now shifted to the 2022 and 2023 class. In the last week, 9 2022 prospects picked up offers and 1 2023 prospect had a four offer week. Every Monday, we’ll update you on all of the recruiting news from across the state. From offers to commitments and everything in between, we’ll have you covered. As always, you can follow us on Twitter to stay up to date from the moment an offer or commitment happens. @PrepRedzoneOK
THIS WEEK’S OFFERS
McClellan Has Another Big Week
It was a very busy and productive week for Owasso 2022 defensive lineman
Chris McClellan

. He continued to pick up multiple Power 5 offers as Missouri and Washington each offered the Owasso big man. He now has well over 20 D1 offers from programs all over the country. And after recently being offered by Florida, McClellan has planned to take one of his five official visits to Gainesville at some point this summer. Over the weekend, McClellan was down in Dallas participating in the Under Armour camp and was dominant in the brief 1 on 1 period. McClellan is a prospect that continues to rise with no end in sight.
“It’s been very exciting to see my recruitment pick up and explode,” McClellan told us following the camp. “It’s been nice to see that all the hard work is starting to pay off.” McClellan knows that his hard work has led to programs offering, even programs that routinely don’t come into Oklahoma, like Washington’s offer within the last week. The Owasso big man plans on taking his time when it comes to narrowing things down. As of now, he plans on releasing a top ten towards the end of summer, dropping that to five in October and finally committing in November.
Hasz Picks Up Four More Offers
Another prospect who we caught up with after an impressive showing at the Under Armour camp was Bixby 2023 tight end
Luke Hasz

. The Bixby standout was in the same boat as McClellan as he’s had a very busy week when it came to the recruiting process. In the last seven days, Hasz picked up four offers from power five schools. Arkansas, Kansas, Oregon and USC all offered the Bixby big man. Similar to McClellan, the offer sheet for Hasz is filling up so fast that pretty soon a shorter list will be the P5 schools that haven’t offered him.
“It’s been crazy, I’m super blessed to be in the position I’m in,” Hasz said about his recruitment following the UA camp. “Everything that’s come, it’s just shocking but I’m enjoying the process and it’s been super exciting.” Hasz is in no rush when it comes to his recruitment and there is no doubt that he will be a consistent player written about in our weekly recruiting reports because more schools will be knocking on his door.
First Offer For Heritage Hall Speedster
One of the biggest breakout stars from the 2020 season was Heritage Hall wide receiver
Gavin Freeman

. The junior did it all for the Chargers as he was a standout receiver, catching over 20 touchdowns. He also played defense and was the Charger return specialist. He was without a doubt one of the more dynamic players in the state of Oklahoma. Last week, the first D1 offer came in for Freeman as he was offered by Air Force.
We’ve seen Freeman in person and watched a lot of impressive film of the Charger standout. And based off what we’ve seen, it was about time a college pulled the trigger and offered and more should follow sooner rather than later. Freeman will have to overcome the stigma of being a short white receiver when it comes to his recruitment, and the dead period isn’t helping as it’s preventing colleges from seeing him in person. However, in our opinion, they shouldn’t wait to see him in person, the film speaks for itself.
Eastern Michigan Hitting Oklahoma Again
Eastern Michigan has routinely recruited Oklahoma over the last five years and they’re not stopping anytime soon when it comes to the 2022 class. In the last week, a pair of defenders picked up offers from Eastern Michigan. First, Southeast defensive lineman

picked up an offer from EMU. He’s been a 2022 prospect that has emerged over the last few months. Then it was McAlester linebacker

picking up an EMU offer. Faber’s recruiting momentum is really starting to get rolling after a fantastic junior season.
