Shawn Thigpen 6’4 170 Springfield HS- Springfield Wildcat receiver Anthony Brown Anthony Brown 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Springfield | 2023 State OH is currently ranked at the top of our 2023 class, but Shawn Thigpen is very talented receiver with a very high ceiling in his own right. The first thing that jumps off the screen when you watch Thigpen is his length and speed. Having seen Thigpen play a few times in person every bit of the 6’4 he’s listed at in the program. As a wide receiver he’s a long strider, with very good speed, and a fluid athlete. As Shawn continues to grow as a route runner and fills out his frame, he’s going to be a very tough match up. He can beat bigger cornerbacks with his speed and he can beat smaller cornerbacks with his size. With his size and speed combination he’s a natural fit on the outside at the next level. Thigpen just picked up his first D1 FBS scholarship offer this month as he was offered by the University of Toledo. He’s also had contact with Northwestern. I expect that Shawn will pick up his share of P5 offers before all is said and done with his high school career.
Ryne Shackleford 6’0 195 Keystone HS- Ryne plays with good speed and suddenness. Once he has the ball he makes plays and a very strong base makes him extremely hard to bring down. Ryne was utilized in a number of ways in the Wildcats offense including reverses, bubble screens, and both underneath and vertical routes. He has great vision and stop and start ability that makes him very elusive in the open field. At 6’0 and 195 pounds Shackleford already has the build a player beyond his years. I project Ryne to the slot position in college. He already has an offer from the University of Kentucky and has interest from Northwestern. Like Thigpen I expect Ryne to add to his list as his high school career progresses.
Ty Perkins 6’3 165 Lucasville Valley- Some receivers just have a knack for getting open and Ty is that type of receiver. His release off the line of scrimmage and advanced route running make him a hard assignment for opposing defensive backs. His route running is advance for a high schooler let alone a sophomore. He understands selling fakes and has a great feel for setting up routes. Combine those separation traits with his long 6’3 frame, athleticism, and it’s easy to see why Ty has a bright future ahead of him. I like him as a outside possession receiver at the college level.
