Just yesterday, Sanders added Virginia Tech to his offer sheet that also includes Eastern Ky, Kentucky and Ole Miss but the Hokies won’t be the last as several others have interest as well.
“I’ve been talking with Florida St. and Kansas St. a lot recently and I know a few other schools are looking into me as well,” said Sanders. “I am just excited about all this and grateful to have the offers that I do.”
Sanders is a humble, well versed young man that is also pretty intimidating and physical on the gridiron.
Standing 6’5 285 pounds, the Chattanooga area lineman sports the size, frame, and overall skill set that commands college coaches attention but Sanders is far from a finished product and even he would tell you so.
“I have a long ways to go but I’m working really hard and trying to become the best player I can be,” he said. “I’ve been hitting this offseason hard. I’m working on explosion in my legs, flexibility, and my overall upper body strength. I’m also trying to learn as much about the game of football as I can so I know how to do anything on the field.”
What Sanders says is true as I have personally seen him work in person multiple times so far this offseason. He was named a top O-line performer at the #NCEC Atlanta Combine and he travels from Chattanooga to Nashville almost every weekend for expert training.
Each time Sanders hits the field, he improves as his work ethic is second to none. He knows what areas of his game he must improve but he knows what he is and that’s a big punishing guy that moves well and finishes the play.
“When I get on the field, I am an aggressive player. I love contact and I won’t stop until the whistle blows. I love when the other team talks because it just fires me up even more. I also like to keep my team energized and pumped up on and off the field. I’m just an intense guy that loves playing the game of football.”
He is dedicated and college coaches have started to see that, which in turn is taking his recruitment to a whole new level.
The recruiting process will be a long one for Sanders and he knows that. The East Tennessee product understands how the process works but he is taking in all the advice he can and listening to what college coaches are telling him.
“The coaches I have talked to really like my game and they like the fact that I have a lot of room for growth being that I am currently only a sophomore. Coaches think I can be a great player, like ACC, SEC caliber but I must continue working and improving, so that’s exactly what I am doing.”
Easily one of the hardest workers we have in the state of Tennessee, Sanders is poised to be placed among the top in-state recruits for the 2023 class, so this is just the beginning of a long road that will see plenty of good things come his way.
