With the fifth round of the playoffs finished we are nearing the end of the 2020 season. Last week was the finals for 5A-3A and the semifinals in 2A and A. With that being said, this will most likely be the final playoff players of the week piece of 2020 due to the fact that there are only a couple of games being played this weekend. Nevertheless, let’s see who balled out in the second to last week of the season.
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Class 5A</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="38684" first="Buddy" last="Bizzell"] <strong>- Carl Albert</strong>
Carl Albert has been known on offense for their elite rushing attack the past few seasons and nothing changed on Saturday as the Titans ran all over the Irish. [player_tooltip player_id="38684" first="Buddy" last="Bizzell"] in particular rushed for 106 yards and 3 TDs on 19 carries to help lead CA to their 5th straight State Championship victory.
[player_tooltip player_id="38534" first="Ben" last="Harris"] - <strong>Carl Albert</strong>
At this point, you have heard the run down a million times so I will spare the details on [player_tooltip player_id="38534" first="Ben" last="Harris"]’ historic career at CA, where he lost only 2 games in his 4-year career, and won 4 straight state titles. However, Harris had a stellar night to cap off his time with the Titans. The Senior signal-caller went 17-21 for 195 yards and 1 TD through the air and added 80 yards rushing on the ground.
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Class 4A</strong></span>
<strong>Atrel Bryson</strong> <strong>- Clinton</strong>
We highlighted Bryson a few weeks ago in our players to watch for Clinton in their semifinal matchup and he has shown why over the past 2 weeks. On Saturday in particular, Bryson ran for 125 yards and a TD on a stout Wagoner defense. However, his efforts were not enough as Wagoner would go on to defeat Clinton for the 4A state title.
<strong>Braden Drake</strong> <strong>- Wagoner</strong>
On the other side, Wagoner’s RB had an incredible night rushing the ball as well. Drake, who has been one of the most productive backs in the state with over 2000 yards in 2020, took on a heavy workload of 33 carries and delivered with 247 yards and 2 TDs on the ground to help lead Wagoner to a win.
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Class 3A</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="38568" first="Wallace" last="Clark"] <strong>- Holland Hall</strong>
In a shocking blowout in the 3A State Championship, Holland Hall dominated Lincoln Christian and had some big-time performers but none of them were bigger than Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id="38568" first="Wallace" last="Clark"]. The OU Baseball commit went 15-23 for 268 yards and 3 TDs through the air, and showed off his athleticism on the ground with 130 yards and 2 TDs rushing.
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Class 2A</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="38790" first="Kirk" last="Francis"] <strong>- Metro Christian</strong>
Metro’s Sophomore QB [player_tooltip player_id="38790" first="Kirk" last="Francis"] is quickly establishing himself as one of the best QB prospects in the state for his class and perhaps across the class of 2022 as well. In their blowout victory over OCS in the semifinals, Francis went 16-23 for 236 yards and 5 touchdowns. Francis has been on another level in the playoffs and will take on Washington in the 2A State Championship this week.
<strong>Emmit Wilk</strong> <strong>- Washington</strong>
In yet another game I doubted the Warriors, Washington took down Beggs in the semifinals last week and will take on Metro this week for all the marbles. Perhaps the top performers for the Warriors was their QB, Emmit Wilk. Wilk only threw for 73 yards on 7 attempts but made them all count as he finished the night with 4 total TDs (2 passing, 2 rushing).
<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Class A</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="53320" first="Landon" last="Lagasse"] <strong>- Cashion</strong>
In a surprisingly low scoring affair between Pawhuska and Cashion, there were not a ton of individual performances to choose from, but the player of the game was certainly Cashion WR [player_tooltip player_id="53320" first="Landon" last="Lagasse"]. Lagasse scored a 52-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter to send Cashion to the Class A State championship where they will have a rematch against Thomas-Fay-Custer.
