Points were at a premium as Massillon Jackson came away with a 14-10 win that will send them on to the State Championship game versus Hoban.
LaSalle was without two of their standouts due to injury in Devonte Smith, who’s committed to Alabama, and [player_tooltip player_id="34376" first="Gi’bran" last="Payne"] who’s receiving interest from the likes of Alabama, Florida, and Notre Dame. As [player_tooltip player_id="34187" first="Jaylen" last="Johnson"] told me after the game, they weren’t going to make excuses. La Salle battled and lead most of the game before giving up the big 48 yard pass play to [player_tooltip player_id="34252" first="Martavien" last="Johnson"] that would put Massillon ahead for good. There were a few standout players in the game.
[player_tooltip player_id="34293" first="Caiden" last="Woullard"] OLB/TE Massillon C/O 2021- Woullard made an impact on both sides of the ball in this game. He had a crucial 3rd down catch in the first half for 34 yards and he also flew around on defense and made plays. Woullard at 6’4 235 pounds has really nice combination of size and athleticism and doesn’t shy away from physicality. He plays sideline to sideline and has a nose for TFL’s. Caiden has really just come on the recruiting scene in the last year. He has an offer from Miami of Ohio, which his favorite, but is also garnering interest from Boston College, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
[player_tooltip player_id="34187" first="Jaylen" last="Johnson"] DB LaSalle- Johnson’s size speed combo is a rarity at the high school level. One word comes to mind when describing Johnson’s game, and that’s PHYSICAL! At 6’3 210 Johnson has a nose for the ball and is always looking to lay the wood. Johnson is a part of a big 2021 recruiting class and Ryan Day and Ohio State. Jaylen told me after the game that Buckeye defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs told him that he’ll be playing the new "bullet" position in his defense that is currently being played by Josh Proctor. Johnson focus in recruiting since he has been that of recruiter. According to Johnson him and others trying to flip LSU commit Derrick Davis Jr.
Will Heffner LB LaSalle- Heffner is the big cog in the middle of the LaSalle defense. He excels at reading plays and filling gaps. At 6’1 225 he has the size you’re looking for at the Mike linebacker position. He plays with leverage and is a sure tackler. He’s always running down hill and ready take on any blockers that come his way. Heffner currently has an offer from Division 1 FCS Valpo and is getting interests from several D3 schools.
