Here at Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re dedicated to bringing you the most in-depth and widespread coverage of Oklahoma high school football. Every week, we’ll have practice reports, featuring some of the best teams in the state as they prepare for a big game on Friday night. We’ll give a breakdown on how the team is doing, how some of the top stars are shining and who are some of their breakout performers. This report features #4 Booker T Washington as they prepare for this week’s Prep Redzone Oklahoma Game Of The Week with #2 Del City. Last Week - Beat Southmoore 28-10 Booker T Washington kicked off the season in style with a 28-10 victory over Southmoore on Friday night. The Hornets shut out the Sabercats in the second half, on their way to the victory. First year head coach Jonathan Brown began his head coaching career with a win. The Hornets had a balanced attack on offense and played great defense in the 18-point victory. Booker T Washington came out of the game healthy and ready to go for their top five showdown with Del City. In Friday night’s win over Southmoore, the Hornets had several players that stood out. INDIVIDUAL SPOTLIGHT [player_tooltip player_id="47962" first="Ethan" last="Grogan"] - 2021 Linebacker Booker T Washington senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="47962" first="Ethan" last="Grogan"] was the defensive MVP for the Hornets in their win over Southmoore. Grogan led the team in tackles, had a sack and also came up with a first quarter interception that he took back for a touchdown. Grogan was a bright spot on the Hornet defense that shut out Southmoore in the second half. The Hornets have a lot of firepower on both sides of the ball, Grogan was somewhat of an unknown for us as we headed into the 2020 season. That’s not the case anymore after his big game on Friday night. Grogan will be a name to circle in this loaded 2021 defensive class. [player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"] - 2022 Athlete We wrote a lot about junior star [player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"] in an article on Tuesday. Williams has established himself as one part of the "2022 Big Three" as one of the best prospects, not only in Oklahoma, but in the country. In Friday’s victory, Williams had a good game on both sides of the ball. On offense, he took an end around reverse for a fourth quarter touchdown. On defense, he was one half of Booker T Washington’s shutdown corners. Southmoore struggled offensively, especially in the second half, where they were shut out. Williams is arguably the fastest player in the state and when he gets into the open field, expect fireworks. [player_tooltip player_id="47955" first="Jaiden" last="Carroll"] - 2023 Running Back Arguably one of the best freshman performances we saw in 2019 came from Booker T Washington running back [player_tooltip player_id="47955" first="Jaiden" last="Carroll"]. The young running back was one of the breakout performers from last season. He improved this offseason and looks even better as we head into the 2020 season. Carroll had a strong performance against Southmoore. He was the workhorse running back for the Hornets on Friday night. He had several big runs and finished with well over 100 yards rushing. And it appears that it’s safe to say that this is just the beginning for Carroll as a sophomore. The future is very bright for Carroll. [player_tooltip player_id="38494" first="Keuan" last="Parker"] - 2021 Cornerback The other half of those shutdown corners, along with [player_tooltip player_id="38668" first="Gentry" last="Williams"], is senior [player_tooltip player_id="38494" first="Keuan" last="Parker"]. The Arkansas commit picked up right where he left off in 2019. Last season, he was one of the best shutdown corners in the state. On Friday night, Parker showed off why he’s not only still one of the best shutdown corners, but he’s one of the top overall players in Oklahoma’s senior class. Along with Williams on the other side, Parker had a great season opener. When you look at the overall outlook of this 2020 season, it’s hard to think that many opposing offenses will have success throwing against Parker and Williams. [player_tooltip player_id="47959" first="Micah" last="Tease"] - 2023 Wide Receiver Remember this name because it’s going to be in headlines for the next three years. Sophomore wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="47959" first="Micah" last="Tease"] is the next big name at Booker T Washington. He emerged late in the season a freshman as a potential playmaker. Tease then had a great offseason and came into 2020 as a key part of the Hornet offense. In Friday night’s victory over Southmoore, Tease caught several passes, including a 51-yard touchdown. Tease caught a simple comeback route and then outran the Southmoore defense to the end zone. We’ll see a great match-up on Friday with Tease against Del City’s secondary. This Week - #2 Del City @ Home On Friday Night It’s time for the grudge match between these two talent-rich programs. In 2018, Booker T Washington dominated Del City in the first round of the playoffs. Last year, Del City returned the favor with a dominating first round win of their own. These two teams could very well meet again in the playoffs this season but we get at least one match-up for sure and that’s our Game Of The Week on Friday night. "Coach Dunn has done a great job building that program up," Hornet head coach Jonathan Brown said. "With Del City, you know they’re going to have athletes so we’ll need to put a body on a body. They play very fast and angry." Del City has one of the top defensive units in the state. They currently have three D1 commits on their defense and several other players have offers. This game features many future college football players on both sides of the ball. From that perspective, we won’t see many other match-up’s quite this rich with individual prospect talent.
