Last night, Zah’ron was easily the star of the show for Dupont as he scored the first 2 touchdowns, both of them being on consecutive carries to start the 2nd half. The Junior was on a different level compared to the rest of the players on the field. His lateral quickness is unmatched, which makes his shifty moves nearly impossible to make a tackle from the opposing defense. I shook my head in disbelief at the many carries he took as he single-handily dismantled the Fern Creek defense. I cannot wait to see what his future football career holds for him, especially for him and the Dupont playoff run.

At the end of the season, Zah’ron placed 2nd in average rushing yards per game and placed 1st in most rushing touchdowns in 6A ball for Manual. Even with playing against the most competitive football teams in the state, Zah’ron continued to dominate the 6A class with his incredible talent and looks to sustain their high school’s impressive season against Fern Creek High School (4-6) this weekend.

Another high-caliber running back that I’ve been very impressed with this season is junior Zah’Ron Washburn Zah’Ron Washburn 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH DuPont Manual | 2024 KY from DuPont Manual. Washburn has been a huge part of Manual’s success this season and continued to shine this past Friday, running the ball 20 times for 236 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-19 win over Pleasure Ridge Park. He did a great job of exploding out of his stance and coming downhill in a hurry then running his feet through contact to gain as many yards as possible. Once he hit the open field, Washburn showed great contact balance with the ability to bounce off defenders without breaking stride and also showed the speed to run away from the defense. He also showed some reliability in the passing game, catching two passes for five yards. Zah’Ron currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky but I expect that list to expand tremendously as he is a true Division I talent at running back.

He continued on that upward trend Friday, rushing for over 230 yards and a touchdown in a huge win over La Salle (OH). Washburn bursts out of his stance and comes downhill in a hurry through the hole. Once he hits the open field, Washburn shows a great ability to make cuts on the dime to make defenders miss. He also has shown the strength to run through tackles and the speed to run away from the defense. Washburn currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky but I expect more to come as he is a special talent at running back and has been a key piece to a very successful season for Manual so far.
