Stevenson continues to grow as a passer after first hitting the scene as a raw athlete. He cut down on the interceptions last season, but at times, seemed a bit timid to use his legs. I expect him to be more decisive when it comes to tucking and running, and that should give him the chance to put up bigger numbers on a promising Hillside squad.

An All-Conference player last season, Xavier is another player with ideal size who should intrigue college football programs. Watching Xavier’s film was a lot of fun – partly because the Hillside offense asked him to do a lot of different things – dive option from under center, play action from I formation, Wing-T motion handoffs and fakes, those are HARD to execute consistently, and Xavier made it look fluid and easy on a consistent basis. Xavier has a good arm with a nice touch on downfield passes and shows some good athletic ability running the ball in the open field. I’d like to see how he operates out of shotgun and in some 7 on 7 settings to see how he can read the field in those settings, but he’s got a ton of potential to continue to grow into a really good college prospect.

A boom-or-bust passer, Stevenson struggled to maintain consistent accuracy last year, but when he hit, he hit big. As the season progressed, Stevenson settled in as a passer and begam to find his rhythm. He’s an electric runner who can make highlight plays when things break down. The key will be consistent reps for Stevenson. The potential is through the roof, if he can continue to develop.
