Hargraves, still a bit on the lighter side, is further along as a pass defender than a run-stopper, which only shows that he has tremendous upside. He’s an adept zone safety, capable of playing in multiple alignments. He’s at his best when he’s squared up against the quarterback in a deep zone. As he improves as a run defender, from a reaction and physicality standpoint, it will only help his recruiting stock.

Hargraves is a high-level zone free safety who can play Cover 1, Cover 2, Cover 3, or quarters and he commands his area well. He has the acceleration to make impressive breaks on the ball, often jumping routes as the quarterback mistakenly tries to fit balls in tight windows. He’s just a sophomore and should grow as a run defender in the next two years.
