Vegas is making his home at the LB spot nicely. His quickness and athleticism allow him to get in on a ton of plays, racking up a ton of tackles. The West Bloomfield defense is very good in the back end, so having a guy in the box to sure up the run stoppage is huge for the Lakers. I think he still has some work to do to really hone his craft, but this dude is definitely a tackling machine so far this season.

I was very happy to see Vegas playing Linebacker during the most critical moments of the 4th quarter. While the entire defense (including Vegas) looked pretty gassed, I was optimistic about how Vegas performed. For one, he was included in several gang tackles. It did take a moment for Vegas to diagnose a play, but once he did, Vegas did a nice job of attacking the ball carrier and aiding in making a tackle.
He doesn’t have any tape from this season just yet, but I am very much looking forward to seeing his end-of-season highlight tape.

I’m extremely interested in seeing what Vegas is able to do during his senior season. Over the past few years, Vegas has been at all the offseason camps and has been working hard as a running back. Last season as a linebacker, he produced some promising highlights. Vegas is able to work gap-to-gap on inside runs and meet a ball carrier for a minimal gain. He’s also able to work through blocks and secure tackles. His sideline-to-sideline ability is decent, as his pursuit is good, but needs to become faster if he wants to become a great sideline defender and pass defender. Right now, Vegas is trending toward being a Division 3 college football player.

Despite being a bit smaller than some of the other backs on this list, Vegas does a lot of his damage between the tackles. He runs hard and doesn’t dance around in the backfield, and doesn’t go down on first contact. Solo tackles on him are pretty unusual as he usually keeps his legs chopping even when it seems his momentum is stalled. I’m expecting Vegas to make a case to climb the rankings even higher, as I think his ceiling is as high as anyone right now. Everything I see is he is a hard worker, as he’s attended every camp he can this off season so far, and is putting in the work. I’m looking forward to watching him in person this fall.
