Expert Analysis
Mike Bey | Prep Redzone Scout
Trey is having a great season in 2023. He plays as an EDGE where he lines up in a 2 and 3 pt stance. Against the pass, he is quick off the ball and shows very good hip and ankle flexion as he bends at the apex and gets under the pads of the OT before quickly disengaging. He exhibits good closing speed in pursuit of the QB before finishing up with a sack. Against the run, he uses his excellent burst to quickly penetrate the LOS. He shows good explosiveness as he makes a big hit for the tackle behind the LOS for a TFL.

Trey Verdon Trey Verdon 6'1" | 215 lbs | DL Hamilton | 2025 State OH lines up at Defensive End for the Big Blue. At 6’1 215 he’s a little undersized at this point in his career, but his film pops. He’s fast to the edge and plays with bend. He’s violent with his hands and physical at the point of attack. Once he breaks penetration he accelerates quickly to run down quarterbacks and running plays. I like his polish as a player, he just needs to continue to grow, fill out, and get stronger. I love his ceiling. At this point it’s really just a matter of how much he grows. If he doesn’t get taller, he may slide up to linebacker where he possesses the speed and athleticism to play as well. It’s fair to say there it runs in the family as older brother, Malik, is a Safety at Iowa State.
