I’ve seen Tony throughout the offseason, and he has impressed. He is a smooth route runner who turns into a fluid after the catch threat. He’s done a good job putting on almost 20 pounds in the offseason and will look to turn that into more opportunities on offense this season.

Johnson is a silky-smooth receiver from Berlin high school. You can tell by watching him run routes that he has a great understanding of leverage and how to find space in zone defenses. He does a great job of setting up defenders and not giving away himself away. In the open field he’s a playmaker with the ball. He had numerous touchdowns where he turned shorter passes into touchdown plays. Tony holds offers from Marshall and Toledo.

Tony had a solid day and actively sought tough matchups in the 1v1 period. His smoothness was on showcase throughout the event. I’ll have to keep track of Tony throughout the offseason.

Tony has the talent to take over the showcase. Olentangy Berlin isn’t very open with their hudl, so he has limited film from this season. He’s a big-time type of player, and I want to see him rise against a talented WR/DB group.

He flashes strength after-the-catch as an X/Z, and can make initial defenders miss. He has enough size to play at that level. More tape is needed for a further evaluation, but he looks like a quick-riser to know for the future.
