Diamond is a senior edge rusher who is currently receiving heavy Ivy League interest. The 6’3, 215 lbs game wreaker is sure to play a key roll in the Viking’s defense as they plan to shut down Batavia’s strong rushing attack. Good thing Diamond is as good as it gets against the run. The senior OLB plays with low pad level, elite lateral quickness, and strong physicality that allows him to be a disruptor. And if Geneva has success stopping the run, enjoy watching Diamond get to work in the pass game. Between his solid bend, polished pass rushing technique, and overall athleticism, look out for Diamond making plays on the edge all night long.

The 6’3″ 215 lbs OLB from Geneva HS is an impressive athlete. Tommy seems to thrive out in space or off the edge. His best traits all revolve around explosive athleticism, like his first step get off at the snap that allows him to get to the heels of OTs. Tommy also excels when he plays off the ball and is asked to drop into coverage. He is a smooth athlete who can run or slide in any direction quickly and naturally. He is able to turn and run with RBs/TEs/WRs in short areas, and he does a great job of getting in passing lanes and breaking up passes. No surprise to see he already holds 11 D1 offers. I expect that list to grow during his senior year as he continues to show he can be a three down LB.

We’re kicking things off with a junior right at the genesis of his recruitment’s explosion, as 6’3, 205 lb. Geneva OLB and three-sport standout Tommy Diamond is three days out from his first college opportunity. It was a solid one, as the prestigious FCS Ivy League competitor UPenn reached out with a roster spot on Tuesday. It makes sense too, as Diamond holds a 4.07 unweighted GPA and earned Academic All-Conference distinction in addition to his First Team Dukane All-Conference nod for his gridiron exploits this past fall. He’s also been in contact with Miami (OH) for a few months and just earned a Western Michigan junior day invite to boot. On tape, it’s clear he’s a versatile OLB, and showed good things in run support, pass defense, and when rushing the QB, and I love how comfortable he is in space. With sideline-to-sideline range and the pursuit speed to run down plays from the backside, Diamond is also physical when attacking blocks and tackling and can play out in the flats as an off-ball OLB or succeed inside the box as a standup EDGE. I’m also intrigued by his bend and lateral agility when rushing the passer. These skills, not to mention his 6’3, 205 lb. frame that is capable of adding a ton more good weight, makes me confident in that offer list growing, and growing quickly. Good luck the rest of this basketball season, Tommy!
