Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Sims, a Memphis commit, is well-equipped traits-wise and extremely active. He is productive as a tackler and productive against the ball. He always seems to be around the ball during chaos and negative plays. He consistently creates takeaways. He is a proven tackler with excellent pursuit skills. Long-term, his instincts and activity will play best as a safety or nickel, where he can be around the ball on every snap.

A dynamic, playmaking machine who has consistently been able to force turnovers through the first few games of his senior season, Sims is a versatile weapon on defense who can line up in multiple positions and make an impact. He has a true nose for the football and knows how to wrap up properly force fumbles, and can play the ball in coverage. He’s also a reliable playmaker on special teams. He’s a do-it-all type of player who should have more offers than he currently does, and he earned a new offer this week from Kansas. Through his first three games, Sims made 12 tackles, four TFLs, and forced seven total turnovers including three fumble recoveries, one strip fumble, one INT, and two punt blocks. He’s ranked as the No. 68 overall prospect in the state according to Prep Redzone.

Sims has been a personal favorite of mine since meeting him this Spring at the Prep Redzone Combine where he took MVP honors.
The #5 overall ranked DB in the 2026 Class, this kid is a true athlete that can do it all. Through the 1st 3 games, including the preseason scrimmage, Sims has 12 TT 7 TFL 3 FR 1 FF 1 INT and 2 blocked punts while adding 6 catches for 200 yards and 2 TDs on offense.
Tall and lean with long arms, the 6’2 DB plays with a ton of energy and gets downhill fast and loves to hit. He won the metrics portion of the Camp this Spring after recording top 5% numbers across the board.
He holds 7 current offers with the latest coming from the University of Memphis. Sims will be a big name in the recruiting next off season.

camped with us in January and walked away as the MVP of the afternoon. He checks the height, weight, and speed boxes, but it’s his violence and pursuit of the football that takes his game to another level. Here is an eval from this offseason:

is a hybrid DB prospect picking up P4 buzz and offers this spring. For the most part, he is still someone sneaking onto the national radar. Sims was at our camp on April 30th and took home the MVP, testing well and bringing the action in the competition segment of camp. He is listed at 6’1 185 and well-built physically. He plays with a violent edge, showcasing the ability to fire downhill and impact the running game. When pursuing the football, he plays like a heat-seeking missile, soaring to the football and striking with intent. He is a candidate to consistently play closer to the line, but he has the speed to play center field as a safety and get underneath the football. Sims will only continue to pick up P4 offers over the next two years“
