Injuries slowed down the strong start Johnson had this year but he still showed enough to boost his #PRZTN ranking and stock for the next level. What I like most about this Mid-Tennessee ball carrier is his physical running style and vision to find the open field. Johnson has good speed too that can bounce it to the outside but his bread and butter is running between the tackles. Defenders have a hard time bringing the Cavs running back to the ground due to his broad shoulders and powerful lower base. Johnson could develop into an excellent red zone threat due to his physicality. This guy is a better athlete than some may think and could be a steal for whoever signs him.

Our senior running back group is top heavy with plenty of space behind the top guys, so opportunity is there for others to step forward and become heavily recruited and I think Johnson could be that player. The Cavaliers senior ball carrier has had a strong start to his senior campaign where he has placed himself on the map as a Mr. Football dark horse contender. He has done so by running around and over opponents while displaying excellent balance and burst. Johnson has an impressive skill set as he brings good size to the playing field (well built physically) along with athletic traits that can develop nicely on the collegiate level.
Seeing Johnson perform in person this early season, I’ve seen an increase with his game in his burst and overall speed. Putting those two traits along with his size makes the Cavs running back a very intriguing talent for the D1 level. I understand how the recruiting scene is these days but I’m somewhat surprised no FCS schools have gotten involved just yet. Johnson is very talented with the potential to rise inside the Top Ten of his position during our next updated rankings. If he continues to string together top performances and productive games, I’ve got to think more college programs will become interested because this Upper Cumberland talent is too good to look past much further.

There was a lot of running the football on Friday night but nobody’s carries proved to be more important than Johnson’s. The Cavs senior ball carrier and current top 15 ranked running back by #PRZTN had some big time runs in the second half that were difference makers, especially one in the 4th quarter that ended up being the game winner. What stood out the most about Johnson was his grit and fight to gain every yard he could anytime the ball was in his hands. His combination of power and speed were too tough for the Warriors defense as Johnson wore them down throughout the duration of the game. His stock certainly rose in my eyes as someone that could sneak his way into D1 conversation before the next cycle begins.
