Tavion Johnson Tavion Johnson 6'0" | 150 lbs | DB/WR Cactus Shadows | 2027 State AZ is still a little raw in some of the finer details, but man, the upside is easy to see because the athletic tools pop pretty quickly. He’s long, explosive, and when he decides to come hit, you feel it. There’s real pop in his game, and that alone is going to catch your attention. What I liked, though, is that it’s not just a track-athlete-playing-football type of profile. There are flashes of actual defensive back play here that make you think there’s something real to work with. He can break on the ball in a hurry, and I thought the ball skills showed up nicely too. When the football is in his area, he doesn’t look uncomfortable finding it or playing through it, and for a young DB, that’s a pretty important box to check. The big thing for him now is tightening up the little stuff so all that athleticism can really start doing the heavy lifting more consistently. That can mean cleaner footwork, better timing, a little more polish from rep to rep, all the boring stuff people sometimes skip over when they see a twitchy athlete. But that’s exactly why he’s intriguing. The rest is refinement. So when I watch Johnson, I see a player who may not be all the way buttoned up yet, but I also see a guy whose ceiling gets a lot more interesting if those fundamentals keep catching up to the traits.
