picked up his first offer from Fairmont State who seems to be eyeing a number of Northern Virginia prospects. Watching him a couple different times this season, Carlson was a poised leader who lead the Bulldogs on a deep playoff run. He stands tall in the pocket at 6’4 and loves to get all of his playmakers involved. Throwing for 19 touchdowns in his final year for Coach Vossler, Carlson should be playing in the Division 2 level or higher next fall.

In a game that featured two of the better quarterbacks in Virginia, it was Westfield’s

who came out victorious. Carlson has the Bulldogs feeling good starting the season at 3-0 and has been flawless with the football. He did not turn it over against Langley and looks poised to lead Westfield on a deep playoff run.

is a legit Division 2 or higher prospect, I have seen him up close sling it and I can attest the young man can ball. Since we last spoke on him, he has picked up offers from Hampton-Sydney and Ferrum College. He really navigates the field and controls the line of scrimmage, some school is going to pick up an instant winner. The all-conference qb is back for one final turn to help the Bulldogs get over the Warhawk hump.

in terms of build. As an evaluator, I couldn’t help but gush over Carlson before he even threw the football during 1v1s. Carried a relaxed yet dense upper body, shoulders squared up consistently. Base was pure and consistent, good knee-bend and hip torque. Carlson worked on the balls of his feet and was ready to throw on quick-hitting routes for the most part. A legitimate 6’4, 200 pounds. Throws a ball that jumps off his hand, not too much back bend visible when launching balls deep. Great weight distributor, again harping on his base and hip torque. Probably provided the camp with the most “Wow” throws. Witnessed Carlson throw with touch, often dropping balls on outside shoulders 35+ yards downfield. Plenty of zip on slants and hitches, accurate here too. Little bit of a loop in his delivery, yet every QB in the world has some mechs to work on, Carlson’s were clean for the most part, again arguably my favorite trait of his (size/mechs).

messaged me a couple weeks ago saying he was coming and I was pumped to receive the news. Carlson was perhaps the only qb who was able to dissect Madison’s staunch defense in 2024. this dude can ball. A two year starter for the Bulldogs, Carlson is on the radar of many FCS schools already. Him coming in and performing well with a top flight of receivers is only going to help his case.

The junior quarterback was efficient enough last week facing a stout Herndon defense, and he will need to be on point tonight. Against the Hornets Carlson threw for just a little over 100 yards with 1 touchdown, but more importantly he took care of the football. Herndon had a top 10 defense but they nor do anyone else compare to what the Warhawks have at each position. The young man is having a really good season one that should lead to attention from numerous colleges this off-season. If he is able to take down the undefeated Warhawks, that will go a long way for his resume.

threw some bombs this past weekend against Chantilly. Carlson had a nice afternoon against the Chanticleers and is having a very good junior campaign. His completion percentage ranks among the best in the state as he guided the Bulldogs to 3 wins in a row. Carlson is 6’3 and 190 lbs. and he has quick feet in the pocket too, very good chance his stock soars at our next rankings update.

is having a nice season for the Westfield Bulldogs and he should start to get on coaches radar this off-season with his overall skill set. This dude is a gamer, throwing well on the run and in the pocket, Carlson is poised to rise up ranking boards when we update them in early 2025. 6’3 and 190 lbs. I am beginning to think that he is a FCS or higher prospect.

is involved in a ton of play-action sets, love that he’s in a system that values pacing and footwork, should bode well for his future at the next level. Emphasis on catching DBs napping, throw in Carlson’s rocket for an arm and deploying Carlson and company in play-action sets almost makes too much sense. Can push the ball 40-50 yards, opposing secondaries are going to have to honor this arm while simultaneously keeping up with the run that Westfield likes to boot out of occasionally. In retrospect, I think Carlson could move up on our ranks 2-3 spots.
