‘s recent game film, he profiles as a rising dual-threat quarterback whose combination of intelligence, accuracy, and mobility continues to elevate his recruiting stock. At 6’3”, 190 pounds, Funke brings ideal positional size and shows a strong understanding of how to operate an offense efficiently.
Funke plays the position with excellent vision and a high football IQ, consistently processing coverage and making sound decisions both pre- and post-snap. He is comfortable working from the pocket, where his quick release allows him to deliver the ball on time, particularly into tight windows and along the boundary. His accuracy stands out when throwing into traffic, showing confidence and ball placement that minimize risk.
As a runner, Funke is a functional and effective threat. He has the size and awareness to move the chains with his legs, identifying lanes quickly and finishing runs with purpose. His ability to extend plays outside structure and remain a passing threat on the move makes him difficult to defend and well-suited for modern offensive systems.
Projection: Dual-threat quarterback with strong system versatility

Rory is the glue that brings this team together. He is a dual threat QB that plays with great vision and high IQ. He can make plays from the pocket or on the run, and has a quick release when throwing. He is accurate into traffic or on the boundary and has size and skill to get to the sticks on foot. Rory has improved with his accuracy from last season in 2024, and makes better decisions when on the run. His field vision and toughness are on display every week, and his leadership is unquestioned. Coach Day cites him as the engine on this team, as he has driven Dexter to an early Bowl birth.

The #2 QB in the Class of 2028 is looking to improve on a First Team All-Evergreen season accounting for 23 touchdowns. Rory is a dual threat QB that can win with his legs and arm. Rory is a 6’3, lefty, that throws the ball with accuracy and precision. I was extrememly impressed by his decision making and poise for a freshman QB. I expect Rory to have a big 2025 season.

Rory Funk comes from a strong gene pool standing at 6’1 and a little over 165 pounds. He is a dual sport athlete (baseball stud) and a dual threat at quarterback. Every stereotype about lefties having a little more zip is true in this case. Rory puts enough velocity behind his throws to get it where it needs to be. His legs are a weapon as well. He’s not afraid to pull it down on R.P.O. plays and show off his agility to get yardage instead of taking a coverage sack. This kids toughness and smarts will take him a long way in the immediate future.

was lights out. Honestly, his name was brought up in MVP talk towards the end of the camp–which is rare for a seventh-grader. Measured in officially at 6-foot and 160-pounds and very large hands. Prep Redzone New England scout Vic Castillo said Funke’s zip and velocity on his passes was among the best he saw at camp. Funke threw with the younger Quarterback’s, and in retrospect, should have been up with the eighth-graders from early in the camp. Castillo and I also agreed that his touch and depth perception are well-advanced for his class. If you aren’t a believer in genetics yet, I’m going to continue to offer up examples. Rory is the youngest son of a former Boston College football player and a former Field Hockey and lacrosse player. His oldest brother, Jack, is an Offensive Lineman for the Eagles right now and his other brother, Dominic, made the Prep Redzone 2026 National Watchlist a year ago as an eighth-grader. During his freshman year he has picked up offers from Boston College, Rutgers and Temple. Ability runs in the family.

(6’3″, 200 lbs.) is a Prep Redzone Next class of 2026 National Watch List Defensive End and already holds an offer from the Eagles as well. When it comes to Rory he’s the quarterback of the bunch and could have the biggest upside in both baseball and football. Already standing 6-foot and 155-pounds, his left arm is exceptionally strong as a Quarterback and a Pitcher. On the diamond, he’s already deeply involved in the USA Baseball Identification program and was selected to the Northeast Identification System Series this past summer. On the gridiron, he was selected as one of only 24 class of 2028 quarterbacks to participate in the Davis Mills QB Challenge in July. The writing is on the wall with Funke, it’ll be a matter of just how far the Southpaw goes.
