Last but certainly not least is, arguably, New Jersey’s most explosive back during the 2023 season – Rashawn Marshall Rashawn Marshall 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Weequahic | 2024 State NJ . After checking the film to make sure it was not playing at 2x speed, I finally realized that what I was watching was simply Marshall’s elite speed. This speed causes his jukes, shifts, jump-cuts, spin moves, and stutter steps to be sudden, violent, and break ankles. For as elusive and shifty he is, he has shown that he is willing to lower his shoulder for must-have extra yardage. This combination of on-demand power running, elite speed, and the agility of Spiderman makes Marshall a threat from any spot on the field. Relatedly, when Marshall possesses the field you must defend the entire field as he will cut back and reverse field at any moment. This is, in my opinion, a rare demonstration of when athleticism meets vision. A contributor as a blocker too, when asked to do so he is vicious and tries to embarrass his assignment. There are a few things I want to see Marshall continue to focus on, however. First is ball protection. At the next level where athleticism will be more evenly matched across teams, he ought to tuck the ball. His running style now – prioritizing making people miss – has him carry the ball loosely. Similarly, he must remember to switch the ball to his outside hand when rushing. If he continues to be a threat in the return game it will serve Marshall to field the ball with his hands low, rather than catching it above his head.

One of the most talented and prolific runners in New Jersey, Rashawn Marshall Rashawn Marshall 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Weequahic | 2024 State NJ is ready for his last performance against Shabazz on Thanksgiving. The Weequahic product put up some impressive numbers in 2023, running for 1630 yards and 30 touchdowns. Weequahic lost their last game against Butler in the sections semifinals, but in that game Rashawn ran in both of their scores. Thanksgiving will bring another challenging opponent in Shabazz, as they also made a deep playoff push and were the ones to eventually take down Butler the following week. With an offer from LIU, Rashawn is one of those players that deserves much more attention at the college level.

This list just keeps on getting more and more explosive. Perhaps the most explosive runner of the bunch his Weequahic’s Marshall. Ready for these stats? Marshall has 41 rushing attempts for 615 yards and 11 touchdowns. This boils down to a whopping 15 yards per carry and a touchdown every 4th carry. Marshall has also caught 3 passes for 77 yards and a score. It is worth noting that the Indians are 3-0 and won by scores of 50-0, 42-0, and 63-0. That said, I imagine Marshall has not yet to play a full game.

An elusive and shifty player that I first got a look at in person during the NY Jets’ 7on competition, Marshall has all the moves to make you miss in a phone booth. Building off of a 169/1805/23 campaign on the ground, he looks to be set to surpass last year’s junior season totals as he has gone for 41/615/11 on the ground through three games. Most recently against Snyder it appears that Marshall had an early day scoring 5 times on 252 yards and just 11 carries. Highlighting his explosive nature, Marshall averaged a jaw-dropping 22.9 yards per carry.

Rashawn Marshall Rashawn Marshall 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Weequahic | 2024 State NJ is a special talent. The soon to be senior for Weequahic ran all over defender in 2022 as he sliced and diced through traffic. A running back that has it all, Rashawn is able to deliver a powerful stiff arm and shed the tackler with ease. Somehow he is able to bounce off defenders and then proceed to turn on the afterburners as he dashes to open field. Running for 1805 yards and 9 touchdowns as a junior, I wouldn’t be surprised if he eclipsed the 2000 yard mark this fall. Rashawn is a true D1 talent, and he will catch some big program’s attention soon.
