Expert Analysis
Josh White | Prep Redzone Scout
Goldsmith operated with the kind of polish that consistently keeps offenses on schedule. His release was smooth and quick, allowing him to get the ball out efficiently without wasted motion, while his repeatable mechanics gave his game a steady, dependable rhythm.
What consistently stood out was his ball placement. Goldsmith routinely took what defenses gave him, showing the confidence and composure to stay disciplined while still making quality throws. He consistently hit receivers in stride, maximizing opportunities for yards after the catch rather than simply collecting completions.
When opportunities opened vertically, he proved he could capitalize there too. Goldsmith showed confidence attacking deep, repeatedly dropping the ball in the bucket with touch and placement. His combination of composure, mechanics, and precision made him one of the steadier quarterback performances in attendance.

Goldsmith throws with urgency and clarity. His compact, efficient motion allows the ball to come out quickly without sacrificing velocity, which neutralizes edge pressure before it can disrupt timing. The release is sudden — defensive backs rarely get an extra step to close windows.
What stands out most is his decisiveness. He processes quickly and commits to throws with conviction, particularly in vertical concepts. His arm talent forces safeties to respect the deep third, widening underneath zones and opening intermediate voids. Add functional mobility — enough to extend plays or stress option looks — and you have a quarterback who dictates defensive spacing rather than reacting to it.

is an up-and-coming QB out of Hoover with a big future ahead of him- he can make huge plays with his arm and legs and has already contributed in some big ways to his team’s offense.
Goldsmith has a big arm and is capable of making throws all around the field- he does a terrific job leading his WRs and not putting the ball in harm’s way, consistently stretching the field with his arm strength and making great reads from the pocket. One thing that really impressed me with Goldsmith’s tape was his ability to navigate the pocket, avoid pressure, and make plays with his legs- he has great instincts and knows when to bail out of the backfield, consistently coming up with some good gains on the ground.
Check out Goldsmith’s tape below and you’ll see what I mean- Hoover’s got a talented option at QB in their freshman class with a ton of potential going forward.

RaKeveon Goldsmith is a rising freshman quarterback at Hoover that presented a lot of good traits on tape throughout his middle school career. It’s clear that Goldsmith is comfortable and has a good presence in the pocket- he can maneuver around defensive linemen to avoid pressure and can take hits while throwing some beautiful passes downfield. Goldsmith already has some really impressive arm strength- he frequently launches the ball downfield for huge gains, has some great touch underneath the ball, and places it only where his receivers can go up for it. In addition to his arm talent, it’s clear Goldsmith has a good understanding of his offense already. He goes through multiple reads, takes his time, and makes great decisions under pressure. Keep an eye on him going forward, he could be a real impact playmaker in Hoover’s offense over his high school career!
