Expert Analysis

Fryzel’s D1 recruitment started on the heels of his sophomore season. Over this last calendar year he has seen a steady flow of P4 offers. Fryzel has good length and athleticism. He has good bend and is a smooth route runner who does a good job of creating separation. Last month Preston committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame is a school known for bringing in and developing talented tight ends. I like Fryzel as a TE who will mostly live outside, but and he continues to get stronger and fill out, he’ll have the opportunity add value as a blocker.

Fryzel, the Fighting Irish commit, offers a lot as a pass catcher. He’s a great athlete who can line up either as an inline tight end or out wide. He has soft hands and catches the ball well and can fight for contested balls. He has great body control and moves fluidly. Fryzel is one of the more physically impressive pass catchers in the state. and provides a lot of firepower for TCC.

Fryzel is a very intelligent wide receiver who offers his gunslinger an option he can always rely on. He is very good at knowing when to turn it on and when to slow down and play. His route running is slick, and his speed can blow by you in an instant. At 6’4″, Fryzel is dominant in the air and can shift his body to make some impressive catches.

Fryzel is a versatile tight end/wide receiver who is a good blocker in the run game, but he also aligns at receiver where he is just as effective. With good height and size, Fryzel is surprisingly nifty after the catch. Fryzel already holds several P4 offers.

Fryzel was a starter on offense for the back-to-back state champion Central Catholic Irish. At 6’3 he’s a long striding outside receiver. Preston has a good feel for how he runs his routes and sets up defensive backs to create space. Defenders typically give him some cushion respecting his long speed. Fryzel counters by running with an aiming point between the defender’s numbers getting him on his heels before making his inside or outside breaks. As he continues to fill out and get stronger, he’ll add a strength and physicality element to his game that will make him very tough for defenses to handle. He could eventually end up growing into a hybrid tight end. In January Preston picked up his first D1 offer from Kent State. He should continue to stack offers.
