, a linebacker at Perry County Central High School. What stands out the most about Eddington’s playstyle is his explosiveness and ability to capitalize on predictable passes. I like how Eddington can quickly get in front of receivers, knock the ball out and force fumbles with his physicality and commanding stopping power. I also like Eddington’s ability to be disruptive in the backfield, utilizing bursts of speed and versatility to attack the ball and shut down offensive production in the air.Access all of Prep Redzone

is another linebacker that has been on my radar for a while now and has stood out this season. Eddington lines up at inside linebacker where he is impressive against the run. He does a great job of reading his keys and coming downhill in a hurry to get to the ball carrier to make the tackle. Eddington finishing the regular season with 118 tackles and eight tackles for loss. He also showed some reliability in pass coverage, coming away with two interceptions during the regular season. Phoenix doesn’t currently hold any offers but he deserves some attention from college coaches as he has the talent to play at the next level.

After finishing his junior season as the #4 tackler in Class AAAA and averaging nearly 12 tackles per game, we all have expected big things from Eddington in his last season leading the Commodores’ defense, and he certainly hasn’t disappointed. In Perry County Central’s 42-21 road win at Martin County, he collected 3 solo tackles, 13 assists and forced 2 fumbles while helping secure his program’s 4-2 start heading into district play. Currently averaging 13.3 tackles per game, he has contributed 23 solo tackles, 57 assists, 2 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions, ranking him the #2 tackler in Class AAAA (#7 statewide). A powerful, dynamic downhill force versus interior runs, Eddington’s most noteworthy technical skills include consistent forward lean, excellent power angles in his hips/ankles and quick-twitch, explosive force targeted to (and through) blockers/ball carriers.

Phoenix is the perfect takedown threat on defense for Perry County Central High School. Eddington’s main craft on defense is his ability to close off plays and take down any offensive player with ease. With his textbook tackle mechanics and superior leg strength to keep his ground against charging runners, Phoenix has no problem pinning down players no matter their size. The upcoming senior also inherits explosive acceleration once he locks on to his intended target, which helps him cover ground across the whole field. This helped Eddington place in the top 5 in tackles per game in his entire 4A state class. The impressive linebacker has not publicly expressed any recruiting interest from schools. I believe that will change as he further develops into his best this 2023 season.
