Downey linebacker Oscar Aguilar Oscar Aguilar 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Downey | 2026 State CA announced his commitment to Arizona State on Tuesday.

Aguilar had 102 tackles, 14 for a loss, four sacks, five forced fumbles and a blocked punt for Downey last season.

He also had offers from Boise State, Cal, Oregon State and San Diego State among others. Aguilar is the third player from Southern California in Arizona State’s 2026 recruiting class and the first linebacker.

Aguilar is one of the top linebackers in the state of California, and is a true outside linebacker with elite length, open field speed and fluidity in space. He is a violent hitter on the outside that flies well to the ball, explodes through contact at the POA and shows redirect abilities and backside pursuit. He also shows he can rush the passer off the edge with active hands, quick hips and collapses the pocket quickly off the edge. Aguilar shows solid hips in coverage while able to cover vertically and trigger into the flats, and has the ideal build, range and speed for the FBS level. Currently, he holds offers from Fresno State, SDSU, ASU, Cal, New Mexico.

At 6’4” 200 lbs. Aguilar is an attacking defender with great positional versatility to line up and be effective playing multiple spots. Good length and growth potential in his frame to add mass as he develops. His speed and athleticism make him a sideline to sideline defender that can fill against the run, drop back into coverage, or rush the passer. He’s violent at the POA bringing good power, leverage, and momentum to overpower opponents and finish through contact. Flashes good anticipation and play recognition skills to read run/pass and get an early break on the ball. Relentless in pursuit he plays with high effort and takes efficient angles to the ball to close space quickly. Filled the stat sheet as a junior with 102 total tackles, 14 TFL, and four sacks.
