Nicholas Sims Nicholas Sims 6'2" | 200 lbs | DB/LB Owensboro Catholic | 2026 State KY put together a strong performance in the Aces’ Regional Championship win over Somerset last week. Sims lined up at free safety where he was very impressive in coverage. He did a great job of reading the quarterback and route combinations then flowing through the secondary to put himself in a good position to make a play. When the ball was thrown in his direction, he showed great ball skills, coming away with an interception in the win. He also showed the ability to fill the lane and provide run support, finishing the game with 10 tackles and two tackles for loss. Sims currently holds an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more come his way before the season is over. Nick will be looking to help Owensboro Catholic continue their impressive season in an intriguing semifinal matchup against Beechwood this week.

Sims lines up at safety where he is very dependable in coverage. He does a great job of reading the quarterback then breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play. Sims finished his junior year with two interceptions in 13 games, returning one of them for a touchdown. He also finished this past season with 46 tackles. Sims currently holds an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan and I can see more coming his way going into his senior year.

Sims lined up at free safety where he was very reliable in pass coverage as a junior. He showed the ability to read the quarterback and flow through the secondary to put himself in a good position to make a play. When the pass was in the air, he showed the ability to break on the ball with perfect timing to either come away with the interception or break up the pass. He finished his junior year with two interceptions in 13 games, returning one of them for a touchdown. Sims also showed the ability to fill the lane and provide support against the run, finishing the season with 46 tackles. Nicholas doesn’t currently hold any offers but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some come his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.
