If you’ve paid attention to New Jersey high school football over the last few years, Newark’s Shabazz High School has quickly turned into a powerhouse program under the watchful eye of Head Coach Nasir Gaines. After years of establishing the Brick City Lions as of New Jersey’s top youth programs in the state, the bloodlines run deep and it’s keeping kids like Nahdir McLain Nahdir McLain 5'11" | 214 lbs | EDGE/LB Shabazz | 2030 NJ home. McLain has played multiple positions during his pre-high school career and while I think he could play Linebacker if he trained for it, his size and length lend itself more to an Edge or athletic interior guy. Seeing him at the New Jersey PRZ Next Middle School Camp in late January, he is certainly quicker than he is faster at this point — so development and how he fills out (or doesn’t) will go a long way to determine his best fit.
