Micah Sands Micah Sands 6'2" | 215 lbs | DL North Polk | 2026 State IA proved to be a vital piece toward North Polk’s undefeated season and their first state championship in school history. Sands recorded 29 tackles (18 Solo), 9.5 TFLs, and 4 sacks in 2024. Sands is an explosive, hard-working lineman who showed on multiple occasions that he could make critical stops in goal-line and short down situations, showing plenty of strength to overpower his blockers and to gain the edge around them. Sands was very effective in the run-defense, being able to prevent the RBs from bouncing to the outside, and he displays a level of patience against scrambling QBs with his contain and knowing when to be aggressive and pursue the tackle. Sands will have a much larger role as one of the returning leaders for the Comets’ defense in 2025.

Sands disrupted the plans for a lot of offenses in 2024 as the Comets ran the table on the way to a Class 4A state championship. He piled up 29.0 tackles with 18 of them being of the solo variety. He collected 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. When watching his junior highlight video, we witness a menace in the middle of the North Polk defensive front. He also lines up on the outside, where he can combined his speed and strength to wreak havoc. Sands separates from blocks quickly and plays with his head up and eyes on the ball carrier. He often disengages and crashed down the line onto the running back.
