With No. 1 WR Bryce Burke graduating this offseason, Brady Cathcart Brady Cathcart 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB/WR North Polk | 2027 State IA will have a lot on his plate in 2026 as he moves up into the vacant spot left by Burke. Cathcart showed a lot of promise last season, finishing with 453 receiving yards on 36 receptions and 4 TDs. He also recorded 41.5 tackles and 3 INTs on defense. While DB may be Cathcart’s primary and preferred position going forward, he’s flashed just as much talent on the offensive side as well, with strong footwork and change of direction abilities that translated well from defense to offense, and he possesses some impressive hands and ball skills, being able to high point over defenders in 1-on-1 matchups and make some impressive contested catches through contact. Cathcart’s value should continue to increase as he excels at both positions, and should solidify his presence among the Comets as a leader for the group entering his senior campaign.

The North Polk Comets have a strong group of returning players in 2026, including junior Brady Cathcart Brady Cathcart 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB/WR North Polk | 2027 State IA , who looks primed to build on a standout season. Brady had a highly productive season, racking up 41.5 tackles, three interceptions, 36 receptions, 453 receiving yards, and four touchdowns playing on both sides of the ball. I don’t have a ton of defensive tape for Cathcart, but from what I’ve seen in some game clips, I was very impressed with his athleticism, displaying solid speed, change of direction, and ball skills at the catch point. Brady has a good frame to play CB at the next level, at 6’1″ and 170 pounds with ideal length. Looking forward to seeing more of Brady this offseason.

Cathcart is a good all-around athletes, which he showed in 2024 during the Comets’ run to a 4A state championship. He even kicked off with seven touchbacks. Cathcart did his best work on defense, where he contributed 14.5 tackles (9 solo) and intercepted four passes. He also caught a couple of balls on offense. During his sophomore highlight video, Cathcart identifies what’s coming pre-snap and then diagnoses plays as they unfold, often putting himself in position to make plays, especially in coverage. His height, long arms and ability to change directions could make him viable playing slot corner, too.
