as we enter the 2024 season. Merritt may have the strongest arm in the state. Standing at 6’4″ and 215lb, Merritt’s longer arms and larger frame allows him to launch the ball downfield further than most defenders can cover, allowing his receivers to take off downfield and be confident Merritt can reach them. Merritt can place the ball right into the receiver’s bread basket as they never skip a beat in their route.
On top of the deep arm strength, Merritt has shown he can adapt on the fly and maintain his composure with the pass rush in pursuit. Merritt does an exceptional job stepping up in the pocket and avoiding the rush, all the while keeping his eyes downfield to find an open target. I have full confidence in Merritt when he is on the move, as he delivers accurate balls even without a stable base. Transferring from Peddie to Blair, Merritt will be surrounded by talent at every position, allowing him to flourish and show colleges he is deserving of the #1 QB ranking.

Merritt Fisher, the towering 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback, commands attention as he transitions from the Peddie School to Blair Academy for his senior campaign. Fisher’s physical stature immediately catches the eye, embodying the prototypical quarterback archetype with his imposing frame. Notably, Fisher excels in pocket management, showcasing adept footwork to deftly maneuver away from oncoming pressure while maintaining a composed presence in the pocket. His disciplined approach is evident as he keeps his focus downfield, unfazed by the chaos surrounding him. Furthermore, Fisher demonstrates a willingness to challenge opposing defenses with his aggressive passing style, fearlessly threading the needle to exploit tight windows. Despite his imposing build, there’s room for Fisher to add more bulk, enhancing his durability and physicality on the field. While he exhibits mobility and improvisational skills, refining his arm strength remains an area of focus. Nevertheless, Fisher’s assertive demeanor and commitment to improvement position him as a prospect primed for collegiate attention, with the potential to garner interest from Division I and Division II programs as he continues to refine his game and make strides in his senior year.

With size for the next level, Merritt Fisher is a QB that needs to get recognized ASAP. A 6’4″ quarterback I was not familiar with until now, Merritt has the potential to not only lead Peddie towards a winning record in 2024 but also take his talent to a college program that would be lucky enough to have him. Throwing for 628 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, Merritt has an absolute cannon for an arm. As he steps up in the pocket to evade the rush he can get the ball where it needs to be extremely quickly. Staying composed in the pocket in 2023, Merritt did an extraordinary job staying calm in the face of duress and throwing an on target and on time ball to his receivers. A player worth paying attention to, keep an eye on Peddie and Merritt come this fall.
