Matthew Mullins is a 6’4″ 230lb Tight end known for his strong, firm hands and one-handed catches that are performed with ease. He also has good balance and body control to make difficult catches near the sideline. The New England Prep Redzone updated rankings release was published March 12, 2024. Cornell offered Mullins on March 12, 2024. 

2025 Matthew Mullins Matthew Mullins 6'4" | 215 lbs | TE Canterbury School | 2025 State New E attends Canterbury School in Connecticut. He is a former Massachusetts public school player who transferred to the New England Prep School Conference this fall 2023 season as a reclassified Junior. He is a prospect i’ve seen many times in a evaluation setting. He is known for his strong firm hands and 1 hand catches that are performed with ease.  Also has very good balance and body control to make difficult catches near the side line. He had 40 receptions for a total of 658 receiving yards  and 6 td’s while playing TE. He also played safety on defense and pulled in 6 interceptions during the season. His season performances earned him All Evergreen League honors and All NEPSAC Honors.

He is a transfer student athlete that missed our last updated rankings due to late notification of his reclass into 2025.   He will surely make our next updated rankings list being released in January 2024.

Has a solid performance and stood out, especially on 2nd day. He is a recruit I have seen and written about a few times.  He was consistent once again during the day.  He has alligator arms with very sticky hands.  He can make  one hand plucking in the air catches look easy and  natural. Loves to high top the ball when its put above him and in his range.  He will reclass into the 2025 class at Canterbury School in fall 2025.

Matthew Mullins Matthew Mullins 6'4" | 215 lbs | TE Canterbury School | 2025 State New E   (7v7 Program Nos Elite National) He was being “Mullins” once again with the one hand catches sticking to his large hands like glue.  He makes one hand catches look naturally easy.  He has range, hands, length in his legs and arms with more room for growth. Mullins is a large 6’4″ target and can handle the middle of the field catches that provide good Yac.  He has exceptional balance, with eye and hand coordination that he seems to always be the one winning the jump balls in his direction. Plays physical and knows how to be aggressive with his hand checks at the line of scrimmage when being pressed.  Will rarely miss any balls thrown in his direction.  Can line up inside or outside.

“Mullins is a sleeper with many schools just finding out about him.  I expect him to have some high interest through the 2023 spring season and into summer camp season with the likeliness of offers to come before senior season.

Matthew Mullins Matthew Mullins 6'4" | 215 lbs | TE Canterbury School | 2025 State New E   He is a large target and has a nice athletic muscular frame.  He has range, speed and quickness for his size.  He was another unknown to me prior to this event.  His play surely caught my eye after the 1st scrimmage game.  He has good upper and lower body strength and definitely no stranger to the weight room.

One of the things that really stood out to me was his hands and how strong they are when he catches the ball.  I observed a few db’s trying to make plays after the catch by knocking ball away. However, with the strength of his hands and how he protects the ball after the catch, they were unsuccessful in each attempt. His 4.7 speed was on full display and to watch him move that fast with the frame he has, was impressive.
