Jones originally committed to Sacramento State over the summer but recently reopened his recruitment and holds five D1 offers. A dynamic dual-threat QB and high-level athlete, he brings a smooth/effortless arm action and throws a clean ball with excellent downfield touch. He shows the ability to layer his throws over second level defenders and place the ball with precision into tight windows. In the pocket, he displays strong eye discipline and works through his progression with good footwork maintaining balance and rhythm throughout the play. His accuracy stands out at all levels, he delivers with velocity to the bound and shows consistent placement in the short/intermediate game. When pressure comes, his awareness and quickness allow him to evade the rush, extend plays, and become a dangerous runner in space.
5 Offers: Kansas, Boston College, UNLV, Arizona State, Sacramento State
Jones has been an intriguing prospect to follow over the past few years- as he’s had a roller coaster of a high school career. The Sac State commit gets a huge opportunity to show everyone that Saguaro is back here in 2025. He shows a nice calm demeanor when standing in the p0cekt, and did a great job throwing those deep vertical 3-balls with excellent trajectory, touch, and placement. Jones is a fast, twitched up ball carrier that is a big play threat any time he takes off with that top end speed- providing him with a ton of upside to manipulate opponents, as he’ll takeoff and be a burner if he sees room to run, but can also escape the pocket and deliver accurate, off platform throws.
Sometimes it’s not enough to move around the pocket — you need the ability to scramble and make big plays out of nothing. Marcel JonesMarcelJones

is a game-changer that way. He has the burst and change of direction to elude defenders, and once he finds a seam, he’s gone. His breakaway speed turns broken plays into highlight reels. If you’re looking for a quarterback who can leave defenders grasping at air, Marcel JonesMarcelJones

is your guy.
Jones moves up a spot to #5. He’s a gifted athlete and QB with great versatility as both a passer and runner. Impressed by his arm strength, the ball jumps out his hand whether stretching the field vertically with touch or zipping one into a tight window to the boundary or at the short/intermediate levels. Natural throwing motion that can spin it off platform or on the run to either direction without sacrificing arm strength or accuracy. When he tucks it on broken plays or on designed runs he’s an aggressive ball carrier with good lateral quickness and open field speed. Offered by ASU and UNLV thus far but watch his recruiting take off with a big sophomore season on varsity.
