Expert Analysis
Hunter Tierney | Prep Redzone Scout
Watching Stone on Friday, it didn’t take a highlight‑reel interception to see how much of an impact he had. He’s long, rangy, and moves with a smoothness that makes covering ground look effortless, reading plays from the secondary and never hesitating to stick his nose into the run game when it’s needed. His patience in press and ability to flip his hips and stay in phase forced Desert Mountain to really earn their deep shots, and his toughness at the catch point turned every throw his way into a challenge. It was hard not to notice him with how consistently he showed up in key moments, and it’s pretty clear why Hawaii wanted him in their secondary.

plays with a poise and polish that you don’t always see at this level. He’s a smooth mover with great footwork, and he knows how to stay in a receiver’s hip pocket without getting grabby or overcommitting. There’s a physical edge to his game that shows up early in routes — he’s not afraid to get hands-on and throw off timing, especially when he can use his length. What separates him, though, is how natural he is when flipping his hips and closing on the ball. You can tell he studies film and understands route concepts, because he jumps throws with real confidence. Just a clean, technically sound corner who backs it up with athleticism and effort.

Stone is a lockdown corner with excellent size, length, and athleticism for the position at 6’2” 200 lbs. In addition to his natural ability and coverage instincts he plays with great technique and footwork from his backpedal to his transition. He’s patient and efficient with his movement while also being extremely physical using his length to his advantage to move receivers off their line. Like the fluidity he shows in his transition and coming out of his breaks, accelerating out to close space. Flashes high level route recognition skills and triggers quickly and decisively to put himself in position to play the ball in the air. Possesses the speed and lateral quickness to stay attached and cover the whole field in man coverage. Currently holds nine D1 offers but none are from P4 programs, expect that to change as he showcases his ability and skillset.
