Luke lines up at defensive end where he is dominant against the run. Toothaker does a great job of reading the play quickly and using his speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry. He takes great angles to the ball carrier, getting to them before they can get going to make the tackle. Luke finished his junior year with 72 tackles and 17.5 tackles for loss in 14 games. He also showed the ability to rush the passer, finishing the season with 6.5 sacks. Toothaker also made an impact on offense this past season, catching two touchdown passes. Luke currently holds offers from Cornell, Eastern Kentucky, and Yale, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber prospect.

Luke Toothaker Luke Toothaker 6'5" | 230 lbs | EDGE Franklin County | 2025 State KY is an incoming junior defensive lineman that has seen some early playing time but should see his role increase in Frankin County’s defense this season. As a sophomore, Luke finished with 25 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery. Toothaker is an athletic defensive end that uses his speed to his advantage to blow by opposing offensive tackles as a pass rusher. He also has a nice amount of bend which he uses to get around bigger offensive tackles off the edge. Against the run, he shows the ability to stack and shed blocks quickly and get to the ball carrier to make tackles in the open field. He also showed some ability to react quickly against the pass, coming away with an interception and returning it for a touchdown this past season. Luke doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should definitely be a player to watch over the next two seasons as his role continues to grow.

Luke is a speedy defensive end threat who excels at quickly leveraging past opposing blockers and putting pressure on the QB. Playing edge rusher as a 6’4 sophomore is something you do not traditionally see in his grad class. However, he utilizes his build by being able to slip past the defense and get to the ball carrier when running and if the quarterback is escaping the pocket. On throws, Toothaker can deflect incoming passes and even come up with interceptions from time to time. Finally, his upper body strength is terrific as it allows him to maintain a hold on a ball carrier attempting to tackle them even when he is in an awkward position. Like the previous people on this list, the potential for Luke to further develop into an elite defensive player is there as he is already at a good level as a sophomore. The future looks bright for Luke and possibly playing at the next level.
