About Luke

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I go after whoever is carrying the ball and get through anyone in my way and hit the ball carrier as hard as I can. I play the game smart and take the quickest route I can to get to that ball and make a play.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I work hard and always give my best effort towards everything and try and outwork everyone around me to become the best and most hardworking player around. I lead by example and set the tone for my teammates on how to work and get it done.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in other sports like baseball. I am very serious about my education and am a very hard worker in school and have received Academic achievements from my school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being behind two senior linebackers last year I was able to get a sense of how to be a great leader and learn things from them that have helped me develop leading my teammates by example and holding them accountable and making them the best they can be.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Last year I faced the challenge of being a sophomore playing varsity football and facing how much faster the game is at the varsity level. Throughout that season I adapted and now have a sense of how the game can be and how I can attack it this year.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college with a good head coach that will get on me and push me to be the best athlete that I can be. I also am looking for a college with good academics so I can still be applying myself to be the best student that I can be.

Another great piece for the Spartans’ run-defense is ILB Luke Knutson Luke Knutson Luke Knutson 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB/ATH Pleasant Valley | 2027 State IA , who has plenty of potential to emerge as a leader for Pleasant Valley entering his junior season. In limited appearances last season, Knutson recorded 14.5 tackles (8 solo), 2 TFLs, and a sack. Knutson showed flashes as a force over the middle, showing solid vision and awareness in deciphering where the play is going, while playing with a quick burst off the line and being able to shoot the interior gaps to force pressure in the back-field, while also covering the middle-hook zones against the pass. Knutson will have a much bigger role for the Spartans in 2025, and he is easily one of the biggest break-out candidates to watch out for in Class 5A Iowa heading into next season.
