Herlich impacted games as a sophomore on the Pleasant Valley varsity in 2025. That’s saying something in one of the state’s best programs at developing talent for the next level. Herlich accumulated 28.0 tackles, 15 of which were solo stops. He tallied 3.5 tackles for loss and half a sack. Herlich also recovered a fumble. We can witness how he gets the job done by viewing his 10th-grade highlight video. On it, Herlich shows maturity from a physical and maturity standpoint. He explodes off of the edge on a three-person front with an ability to beat offensive linemen with speed to the outside or with the strength and power to crash down the line. With a resume this accomplished already, Herlich is one to watch heading into next season.

Herlich enjoyed a breakout of sorts as a sophomore competing in a program adept at developing next-level prospects. On top of that, there’s potential for more moving forward, an exciting possibility for schools at the next level. He totaled 28.0 tackles, including 15 solo stops. Herlich was credited with 3.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack. He also forced a fumble. During his 10th-grade highlight video, Herlich shines. Coming off of the outside with a hand in the dirt, he excels at crashing down the line and dropping the ball carrier in his tracks. It’s a mix of quickness and power. His hands are active and help separate from blocks. Herlich has a chance to hop up these rankings with expected development in 2026.

Herlich has stepped in and made an impact during his first season on the Pleasant Valley varsity. That’s saying something for a sophomore in a program that produces top talent annually. Herlich had stacked up 10.0 tackles through the Spartans’ first three games of the 2025 campaign. Eight of those stops were of the solo variety. I couldn’t find any video of him playing this season but tracked down clips from last year on his Hudl page. Herlich uses quickness to his advantage on the defensive line. He’s gets off of the snap quickly and is tough for blocker to square up. Herlich effectively uses his hands to get off of blocks and plays with a good tempo.
