Backes has had to wait his turn to become the starting quarterback at Upper Arlington as Kyle Cox has put together excellent seasons, but I believe the position will be his next season. He has played as a wide receiver which showcases his athleticism well. In his role as quarterback, Backes has excelled in the quarterback designed run game and can power through for additional yards. As a passer, he effectively works the short and intermediate game. He can keep plays alive and will look to hit his checkdown if nothing else is open down the field. I think Backes is in for a good season in 2025, and a very well-deserved one at that.
