has emerged as a reliable and dynamic option in the Wildcats’ passing attack. He’s compiled 35 receptions for nearly 600 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, proving he can make big plays when the team needs it most. Shafer quietly built a strong reputation as a junior behind

, but he’s now stepping fully into the spotlight as a senior, showing the speed, hands, and route-running ability that make him a legitimate threat at the next level. With his production and skill set, Shafer is positioned to earn significant D2 attention while giving Nitro another weapon capable of changing the game in the postseason.

made sure he wasn’t overlooked among the Wildcats’ loaded receiver group in their week two shutout victory over rival St. Albans. He tallied 6 catches for 108 yards and a touchdown and had some key blocks during the game as well. Shafer is versatile in how he can be utilized in the passing game and can run the full route tree. He also displayed some great ball skills on a couple of his receptions and toe-tapped the sideline on some difficult catches.

as their second option, but Shafer is deserving of plenty of college looks himself. He finished the 2024 season with just under 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns, and can repeat those stats as a senior. Shafer should see D2 opportunities as a senior and give Nitro three WR prospects in the Top 10 of the rankings.

who was tabbed as our chains mover. He’s another athlete who could’ve fit under several descriptions on this list but is the type of receiver who quarterbacks love to find on third down to move the chains. Shafer is a smooth route runner with the quickness that allows him to consistently create separation often finding himself wide open. He does a great job of finding space and understands how to work for his quarterback when the play starts to break down. Shafer is dangerous on corner and post routes while also working underneath defenses in the middle of the field. He’s also patient when he does find space and will sit down and wait for his quarterback to find him for an easy pitch and catch.

sneakily had one of the better seasons statistically in the state as well last season. The junior pass catcher caught 58 passes for 933 yards and 7 touchdowns which would’ve led most teams in the state for receiving. This was the first year we got to see his talents on display, and Shafer made the most of it and put himself on college radars. He has natural instincts for the position and does a nice job finding open space and creating separation during his routes.

. Shafer has had a tremendous coming-out party during his junior season for the Wildcats and has been a great #2 for their passing attack behind Thompson. He led the game in receptions with 10 and totaled 170 yards and a touchdown while putting an impressive cap on his first varsity season. Shafer finished with just under 1,000 yards on the year and caught 58 passes and 7 touchdowns.
Shafer is a longer slot receiver with a quick release and speed to create consistent separation. He has the size that could allow him to play outside next season, but Shafer was a reliable target over the middle with the ability to work towards the sidelines as well.

in the slot. He’s pacing Thompson with 155 yards and a touchdown through three games this season and is an emerging name to know for the future as he gets his first real varsity action this year.
Shafer has quality size for a slot receiver and is a bigger target on the inside for the passing attack to utilize. He’s shown good speed and does a nice job finding open field to sit down in by design and on his own. Shafer has also been a willing blocker from the slot whose size also benefits him in that regard.
