Pennington firmly placed himself on the radar as a prospect of note with his performance in 2025. The sophomore rushed for a team-best 599 yards (6.2 YPC) and eight touchdowns, and added three receptions for 37 yards. On defense, Pennington produced 45.0 tackles, 40 of which were of the solo variety. He intercepted a pass, was credited with a pass defended, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
