Expert Analysis

Bell exemplifies how Liberty has built a winner with guys lacking traditional physical measurements grinding and competing. That was on display in the 2025 season-opener against Cedar Falls, when Bell impacted the action on both sides of the ball. And I’m not sure he even had a catch as a tight end, even though he’s fully capable of inflicting damage on the opponent with the ball in his hands. Bell mostly contributed on offense by being a ferocious blocker, which the Lightning needed against a tough Tiger defense. Defensively, he delivered key plays and did his job carrying out assignments. Bell may not have one standout trait outside of toughness, but he does a lot of things well and would be an asset to plenty of programs on the next level.

is well suited as a two-way starter for the Lightning, showing strong flashes at both LB and TE. On the defense, Bell finished 2nd on the team with 50.5 tackles to go with 2.5 TFLs, half a sack, and a fumble recovery. On offense, Bell caught 12 passes for 126 yards and 3 touchdowns. Bell plays well as a run-stuffer and in pass coverage, showing great vision and quick instincts to find where the ball is going, not to mention Bell is a hard-hitter that uses his power to deck players to the ground and to break up passes. On the other side of the ball, Bell contributed greatly to the team’s success on the ground as they ran for over 2300 yards last season, while also being a reliable short option/goal-line passing target. Bell should garner plenty of attention heading into his senior season as a potentially dangerous leader in the middle of Iowa City Liberty’s defense in 2025.
