has been on my radar for a while now and ended his high school career on a high note this past season. He served as his team’s starting quarterback but was mainly a threat in the running game, leading the entire state in rushing with 232 carries for 2,081 yards and 37 touchdowns in 13 games. Hughes is an explosive downhill runner who is very tough to bring down once he gets going, showing the ability to lower his shoulder and drive his legs through contact to break tackles without losing stride. Once he hits the second level, he has also shown the burst of speed to simply run away from the defense on long runs. As a passer, Hughes threw for 1,092 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions as a senior. He also made an impact on defense, recording 37 tackles and two interceptions. Hughes holds multiple offers and I can see him being a true impact player wherever he decides to play at the next level.

finds himself on my top performer list. Hughes was very impressive in Somerset’s second round victory over Danville. He continued his role as their starting quarterback where he was at his best as a ball carrier, running the ball 27 times for 272 yards and four touchdowns. Hughes proved to be a strong runner, showing the ability to lower his shoulder and keep his legs churning through contact to break tackles with ease. He also showed the speed to run away from the defense on long runs. As a passer, Hughes completed 2/5 passes for 21 yards and he also came away with an interception on defense. Kris currently holds offers from Kentucky Wesleyan, Thomas More, and Muskingum, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more come his way. Hughes and the Briar Jumpers will be looking to play spoiler against Owensboro Catholic this week.

is another player who has been on my radar for a while and continued to impress last week, leading his team to a Round 1 victory over Washington County. Hughes lined up at quarterback where he did most of his damage as a ball carrier, finishing the game with 21 carries for 190 yards and four touchdowns. Kris is a true big play threat on the ground, showing the speed to run away from the defense and elusiveness to make defenders miss. As a passer, he completed 5/10 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Hughes currently holds offers from Thomas More and Muskingum, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more come his way soon. Kris and the Briar Jumpers have an intriguing second round matchup ahead of them this week against Danville.

is a player who has been on my radar for a while now and has continued to impress this season. He has played a key role out of the backfield during Somerset’s playoff run, running the ball 30 times for 206 yards and five touchdowns. Hughes is dangerous once he hits the open field, showing the speed to run away from the defense along with the elusiveness to make defenders miss. He has also caught two passes for 16 yards during the playoffs and has made an impact on defense, accounting for four tackles and one interception which he returned for a touchdown. Hughes doesn’t currently hold any offers but I could see some coming his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.

. Hughes was a key playmaker on offense for Somerset this past season. He made a huge impact in both the running and passing game. As a ball carrier, he showed the contact balance and elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field along with the speed to run away from the defense. Hughes finished the season with 98 carries for 732 yards and 13 touchdowns in 14 games. He also showed the ability to line up in the slot and use his speed to pose as a dangerous deep threat in the passing game. Hughes finished the season as his team’s leading receiver, catching 34 passes for 515 yards and five touchdowns. He also played a key role on defense as a defensive back, finishing the season with 85 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and two interceptions. Hughes doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is a player that college coaches should definitely keep their eyes on over the next two seasons.
