Escobedo’s arm talent pops the second you watch him — he can make off-platform throws that most high school quarterbacks don’t even think about, let alone complete. What really ties it together is how much better everything looks when his feet are calm. When he’s balanced, the mechanics clean up, the ball comes out with real intent, and the offense stays on schedule instead of feeling rushed or forced. I also loved his feel against zone coverage — he’s not just locking onto routes and hoping, he’s actually seeing windows develop, understanding where the soft spots are, and trusting himself to let it rip before the closing speed shows up. There’s a maturity to that part of his game that stands out, and it makes it feel like there’s a lot to build on here.

2027 Quarterback Kristian Escobedo Kristian Escobedo 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Mountain Pointe | 2027 AZ has some big shoes to fill from the previous season in Mountain Pointe’s QB room. Transferring from Tolleson High to Mountain Pointe, Escobedo will be stepping into the void left at the quarterback position from last year’s senior tandem the team had. Escobedo can really drive a ball into a tight window, especially in the short area. He plants, sets, and zips the ball with tons of power right on target to where it needs to be. His ability to layer the ball effectively, particularly over the top of second level defenders, is advanced. Escobedo is a distributor at the quarterback position, and it will be fun to see how he distributes to his playmakers in 2025.

Escobedo’s name has been buzzing for a reason. He’s clearly been putting in work, whether it’s through 7-on-7 reps, visiting schools, or just sharpening his game behind the scenes. The first thing that stands out about him is how natural his throwing motion looks — it’s smooth and repeatable, which helps him put the ball where it needs to be with impressive accuracy all over the field. No, he doesn’t have a cannon for an arm (yet), but you can tell his body’s still filling out, and that strength will come with time. What’s really impressive, especially for a guy his age, is how well he sees the field. He’s not locking onto his first read like most young quarterbacks tend to do. He’s going through his progressions and delivering the ball with confidence. That ability to throw from different angles, too — that’s not something you can really teach. It’s instinctive. And now, with former NFL running back and Super Bowl champ LeGarrette Blount stepping in as Mountain Pointe’s co-offensive coordinator, Escobedo’s heading into a great situation. If things click the way they should, he could be in for a breakout season that puts him firmly on the radar statewide. 

Gifted dual-threat athlete that showed he can be accurate to all three depths of the field. His throws are in line with his receivers with good ball placement and timing despite throwing on the run or from unbalanced platforms. Good movement in the pocket, he adjusts well to pressure and maintains good eye discipline to find an open target downfield. His athleticism and feet allow him to buy time and create throwing lanes. Saw some varsity time last season but is expected to take over in the explosive Tolleson offense after Tagg Harrison Tagg Harrison 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Simi Valley | 2025 State CA transferred back to California to play out his senior season.
