Despite falling short of the ultimate goal of a state title, Roberts was near flawless this year leading his Bears team to 10 wins while putting up some big numbers through the air. The Bears senior passer produced 3,029 yards on the season while throwing for 30 TD’s with 10 picks. He was very strong through the 2nd part of the season where Roberts was on a tear, throwing some dimes and producing a ton of yards. Throughout his entire career at DA, Roberts was a consistent winner that always had the Bears in position to compete within the playoffs but his senior year was definitely his best where he proved to be the top quarterback on the year for the 2023 season.

, a quarterback at Davidson Academy. In addition to outstanding composure and footwork, what impresses me about Roberts is his ability to adapt to pressure and hit his receivers in stride anywhere on the field. I also like Roberts due to his arm strength and ability to target his receivers in the backfield for deep passes. Another facet of Roberts that stands out is his ability to shake tackles and escape the defense on the ground, showcasing his electric speed and durability in the pocket.Access all of Prep Redzone

is playing the quarterback position at a very high level for Davidson Academy High School and in week 8 it was no different. Roberts is a quick decision maker and stays poised within the pocket with the ability to handle pressure. Good accuracy and touch to all levels of the field and throws with anticipation. On deep ball, Roberts throws with good timing and slides with quality pocket awareness to create throwing windows.

It’s amazing what a year of maturity can do for some players. Roberts is a different player this year compared to previous season’s as he looks the part of a D1 guy and someone that has his team currently in position to compete for a state title. Through six games, Roberts is one of the best statistical passers in the state and that’s due to his command of the Bears offense as well his improved skill set that his him in contention for Mr. Football honors. What I see on film is a quarterback that has developed his mechanics further along with putting more strength in that right arm. His athleticism has evolved as well. Roberts shows nice pocket awareness and mobility on film that can increase his recruiting stock but also help his offense continue to put up big points. Watching this guy spin the ball the rest of the way will be exciting to watch. Sr Improvement: Roberts has put forth a breakout senior season thus far and taken his recruiting stock to another due to improved arm strength, a slight tweak in mechanics that has made a big difference as well as his mobility in and out of the pocket. The Bears signal caller looks more filled out too with his body, making himself look the part of a D1 quarterback. Current Stats: 93-133 passing for 1,458 yards w/ 18 TD’s & 4 Ints ….QB Rating: 133.5

excels throwing off platform with great arm talent to deliver strikes down the field with velocity and accuracy. He is very accurate on deep balls and while on the move. Roberts shows nice pocket presence with nice athletic ability to create off script. Good awkward arm angles to make throws into tight windows and still shows nice ball placement at all three levels.

Davidson Academy has come out on fire for the 2023 season, starting at 5-0 with Roberts being the main catalyst towards the great start and I think if he and the Bears continue to play like they are, this senior quarterback could walk away as the winner for D2-Class AA Mr. Football this year. So far through five games, Roberts has been on a different level, playing the best football yet during his high school career, showing improved arm strength and pocket awareness. If Roberts can continue this play moving forward, the Bears will not only contend for the region title but become a sleeper team to march through the playoffs and find themselves in Chattanooga as well as earn Mr. Football honors.

is a prototypical pocket passer and shows good mechanics within his drops. He shows clean footwork and has a strong arm to make any throw. Timing and rhythm hitting drops is very good, Roberts has his feet and eyes tied together. He displays very good deep ball accuracy while throwing with a solid combination of touch and power. Roberts is poised under pressure and willing to take hits while delivering an accurate ball.

A multi year starter with a cannon for a right arm, Roberts currently sits under the radar without any offers but sports the arm talent and size to spin it on the collegiate level. Many collegiate coaches have been sniffing around Roberts for some time now but have yet to pull the trigger on an offer. What those coaches could be waiting to see this summer in camps and this Fall is improvement with his mobility as well as his continued development with his mechanics. He does have a powerful right arm and the ability to fit the ball into tight windows, anywhere on the field and coaches love that with the quarterbacks. Roberts isn’t far off from being the full package. He just needs to continue working and developing his craft and those offers will arrive as this is one of the better pure passers from the Middle Tennessee region.
