is a player that exceeded expectations in impressive fashion this season. He had a very strong senior year at defensive end. Griffin was able to use his speed and impressive pass rush moves to dominate off the edge as a pass rusher. He finished the season as the statewide leader in sacks with 23 in 12 games. Griffin also showed the ability to stop the run, finishing the season with 86 tackles and 37 tackles for loss. Johnathan currently holds offers from Lindsey Wilson, Thomas More, and Campbellsville, and I can see him being a true impact player on defense wherever he decides to play at the next level.

is a player that has been on my radar for a while now but exceeded all expectations in 2023. He lined up at defensive end where he had an outstanding senior season as a pass rusher. Griffin showed the ability to burst off the edge and use an impressive combination of speed and pass rush moves to blow by opposing offensive tackles on his way to the quarterback. He finished the season as the statewide leader in sacks with 23 in 12 games. Johnathan also showed the ability to cause disruption against the run, finishing the season with 86 tackles and 37 tackles for loss. Griffin holds offers from Thomas More, Lindsey Wilson, and Campbellsville, and I expect him to make a huge impact on the defensive line wherever he decides to play at the next level.

is a player that truly jumped onto my radar this season. He lines up at defensive end where he is very impressive as a pass rusher. Griffin is explosive out of his stance and is able to use his speed and pass rush moves to blow by opposing offensive tackles off the edge. Johnathan finished the regular season with 15 sacks. He also showed the ability to stop the run, finishing the regular season with 52 tackles and 24 tackles for loss. Griffin doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

. Griffin lines up at defensive end where he is very impressive as a pass rusher. He has impressive speed but also has a nice arsenal of pass rush moves which he uses to win off the edge. Through seven games, Griffin has come away with 13 sacks. He has also shown the ability to get to the ball carrier in a hurry and make tackles in the open field against the run, accounting for 48 tackles and 22 tackles for loss so far. Griffin doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.

After making his season debut in the third game of the season, Griffin has been on a defensive tear that currently ranks him #2 in sacks among all Class AAAA defenders and 3rd statewide. A loosely aligned edge defender with excellent blow delivery/escape skills and the speed to close on the football from any angle, he collected 3 solo tackles, 5 assists, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1 sack in limited duty, as his undefeated Flyers made quick work of cross-town district rival Western Hills (49-0). With the shutout, his defensive unit now ranks #2 among Class AAAA programs in scoring defense (10.2 points per game/6th statewide) and #2 in pass defense (61 yards per game/17th statewide). In seven games this fall, he has charted 24 solo stops, 24 assists, 22 tackles for loss and 12 sacks, pushing his career totals to 50.0 TFLs and 24.5 sacks. An athletic and impactful performer with a tremendously high developmental ceiling, Griffin and his 9-0 Flyers will travel to George Rogers Clark for their final regular season contest before hosting Doss in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

finds himself on my top performers list. Griffin played a huge role in Franklin County’s win over Southwestern. Griffin lined up at defensive end where he was able to use his speed and pass rush moves to dominate off the edge as a pass rusher. He finished the game with three sacks. Johnathan also showed the ability to cause disruption against the run, finishing the game with 11 tackles and five tackles for loss. Griffin doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and definitely has the talent to play at the next level.

A tall, long and athletic edge rusher with an exceptionally high developmental ceiling, Griffin was an incessant source of defensive disruption for his 7-0 Flyers in their thrilling 29-28 road victory at highly regarded Southwestern. On the way to collecting 11 stops on the evening (7 solos, 4 assists), he generated 5 tackles for loss in all–3 of them sacks. As impressive as those numbers might appear, they actually represent a relatively average night of high production for Griffin, who employs an explosive takeoff from his stance, consistent separation skills and exceptional speed to continually pester any and all occupants of opposing backfields. Despite missing two full games this season, he remains the team’s #3 tackler with 36 total stops, 15 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks, currently placing him #3 among sack leaders in Class AAAA and #4 statewide. Unquestionably at his best when asked to align loosely off the frame of opposing offensive tackles and/or defeat blocks in space, his contributions as both an edge defender and pass rusher have helped the Flyers’ attain the #2 pass defense and the #4 scoring defense in Class AAAA.

is another member of the Franklin County defense that stood out this past week. Griffin lined up as a stand-up defensive end where he was very dangerous as a pass rusher. He explodes out of his stance and has shown the ability to use his speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles off the edge to get to the quarterback. Griffin finished last week’s game with three sacks. He also showed the ability to shed blocks quickly and get to the ball in a hurry to make tackles against the run, finishing the game with eight tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. Griffin doesn’t currently hold any offers but I expect some to come his way soon as he has received some college interest and definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
