It’s never easy for a freshman to be thrown to the wolves so early by playing one of the tackle positions, but sophomore Jevon Payne Jevon Payne 6'0" | 260 lbs | OL Lincoln North Star | 2028 State NE seemed to take that challenge in stride. The Gator prospect looked comfortable at right tackle, where he impressed as both a run blocker and in pass protection. As a run-blocker, Jevon does a good job being aggressive at the point of attack and is quick enough to climb up to the second level to seal off blocks. Payne’s motor also keeps him looking for more work to pick up downfield after taking out his initial blocking assignment. Jevon displayed nice mobility in pass protection as he quickly dropped into his sets and had the lateral quickness to mirror pass rushers at the LOS. Effective use of hands with solid placement to secure the inside leverage advantage. This is a prospect who is only going to get better as he fine-tunes his game and continues to develop physically.
