One quarterback out of the gates that we were fired up about when our Lincoln All-City Team came out was Eli Schafer Eli Schafer 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Lincoln North Star | 2028 State NE of Lincoln North Star, who had a big Week 1 in a triple overtime win over Norfolk. College coaches ought to watch the first rep Eli throws on tape against Norfolk. Heavily pressured outside of the pocket, yet makes a next-level throw that should grade out out high in a high school recruiter’s eyes. He also threw a 98-99 yard bomb with again some steady pressure but was pretty unphased from a poise perspective as he drive the ball with great precision deep down field. The proficency was there for the taking on all three levels as one of my favorite Week 1 performance amongst the quarterback group that I have watched so far.

One of my favorite deep ball arms I have seen in the Nebraska 2028 rankings thus far comes from Lincoln North Star’s Eli Schafer Eli Schafer 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Lincoln North Star | 2028 State NE . Yes, he has the excellent arm strength to excel with precision with his wide receiving core, but it’s the tight windows he can find quickly downfield that really pass the eye test. He’s also efficent with his touch regardless of the route he’s throwing on, especially with his intermediate routes. Surely one that is ranked at #50 overall within our 2028 rankings that surely won’t be in that spot for long.

North Star’s Eli Schafer Eli Schafer 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Lincoln North Star | 2028 State NE will look to carry the momentum of a promising sophomore year into what should be a breakout campaign for the incoming junior. Eli flashed last season, completing 59% of his passes (63/106) for 723 yards and eight touchdowns. Schafer showed he’s not afraid to sling it with a strong arm that can push the deep ball with great accuracy, including some next-level over-the-shoulder passes that dropped right in the bucket. He also displayed the arm talent to dice up defenses over the middle of the field with sharp strikes into tight windows. Eli has good footwork in the pocket and operates well with the timing of the play, making sure to get the ball out quickly and accurately. Solid on the move as well— can extend plays out of the pocket and evade pressure. Big year coming up for Eli and company!
