Mellalieu is a high caliber major D1 prospect with an advanced skillset and processing ability as an incoming sophomore. 6’0” 180 lbs. he’s calm and composed in the pocket as he scans the field. Stays in rhythm through his drop back landing with a tall and well balanced throwing platform. Shows natural arm strength using a quick delivery and gets good velocity on the ball with a flick of the wrist. Demonstrates good touch/trajectory as a passer that can layer the ball over defenders and place it to give his receivers an opportunity to run after the catch. Does a good job reading/manipulating coverage with his eyes and shoulders to open up throwing lanes. Has seen a major bump in recruitment this spring pulling in his first three P4 offers from Utah, Duke, and Purdue bringing his total to six with many more incoming.

Mellalieu was the MVP at the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase in January and was the best class of 2029 guy at the camp on Sunday. He was playing on his home field and looked comfortable with all the individual drills. His release is quick, the ball comes out of his hand nicely and his arm strength is improving.
