Manning led Chaminade with 50 tackles, 16 for a loss, five sacks, 19 hurries and a forced fumble last season.

He’s one of the better run defenders off the edge that I’ve seen on film so far this offseason. Manning crashes the edge hard on run plays away from him and can eat up double teams occasionally. He’s a really good outside pass rusher who is explosive off the ball and does a great job keeping the offensive lineman’s hands off of him. Manning has some twitch to him which throws off the timing of the offensive lineman and he can blow up running backs trying to pick him up in max protections.

Manning is one of the more under-appreciated defenders across Southern California and is a big time edge player that is stout against the run and provides a nice twitch and explosion off the ball. He is heavy handed, locks out quickly and can create immediate knock-back while showing quick block recognition and block destruction abilities in the box. He shows he can kick inside if needed, split double teams without losing ground and is a high motor kid that is active backside and always around the ball. Overall heading into his Junior year Manning is a very balanced player that should draw plenty of FCS+ interest here soon.

Manning is quick off the ball and takes no wasted steps off the edge. Offensive linemen had a difficult time getting their hands on him and he did a good job attacking the outside shoulder of the tackle. He uses both hands to leverage the tackle and can either rip outside or spin inside to win reps. Manning had a very strong performance but just happened to be in the best defensive line group the camp has had.

Manning checks into our WL rankings in this update, and deservedly so after coming off a breakout second season for Chaminade. He is one of the top 2027 edge rushers across Southern California and has the frame to continue growing and packing on the right weight and mass. He has a explosive first step, powerful strike to create immediate knock-back on the edge and does a nice job at using his length against shorter tackles when choking out. In the passing game, he is a natural bender, gains ground through his initial step and shows he can spin/counter back inside when working too far up-field and is a high IQ pass rusher that sets up his moves well and has closing speed and natural athletic abilities in space.
